Well, one thing is for sure, if he does anything to Calzaghe, it won't be due to making more people interested because it won't be on PPV. Hopkins obviously pushed Winky's face to up the PPV numbers.

I kind of wish that Hopkins does do something just for entertainment purposes. :good

Perhaps he'll urinate on a Welsh flag.

Hopkins won't touch Calzaghe at the weigh-in he learned his lesson in the Winky weigh-in.

Man I just saw your boy fight (taped the fight on espn friday night fights) and honestly I have no idea why they stopped the fight. Williams threw the final punch of the bout!

I don't think there will be anything really because there's no serious issue between these two like there was between Hopkins and Taylor and DiBella. In what could turn out to be a classic case of foreshadowing, Hopkins and Taylor took turns barking at one another - there was a lot of ill will and trash talk back then - but there won't be now simply because they respect each other and know what's at stake here... I have seen Calzaghe more apprehensive and if Hopkins notices that, oh boy, he will make the most of it at the weigh-in and at fight night. Boxing is essentially a legalized assault and therefore, you gat to be an animal in there, you gat to be mean to succeed. There are boundaries to what is permitted by law but I expect a lot of nasty mind games up until then.

Honestly, Calzaghe is too experienced to fall for any mind-games that Hopkins or anyone else could come up with. Best case scenario - he'll ignore it comletely; worst case scenario - he'll put it to the back of his mind and forget all about it.

BTW, Dorfmeister, I love the way you get all American "you gat to be mean to succeed" when you talk about success! lol

Hopkins is a very intimidating guy, no jokes about it Dec. The guy was stabbed twice in the back and near the heart and went to do time in Pennsylvania Correctional facility Graterford, his bro was shot dead in Germantown... Calzaghe doesn't have that instict within him. The guy is mean alright and Calzaghe may not put it in the back of his mind, let alone ignore it.

This is a jungle out there Dec, you don't give the other face here, they already have in the back of their minds that they are putting lifes at risk... Question is what are you willing to do about it, die for it, let it go? If it was about having my head ripped off, sure I would try to kill him - hitting the gonoids, sliding elbows to the throat, busting eardrums, punishing the kidneys, headbutting him on the nose and the eyes, wrestle him to the floor, everything. I want to win, no matter how I'll do it.

Well, if they were alone on a stranded island, or on a boat in the middle of the sea, I can see why Joe'd sleep with a knife under his pillow with a dangerous survivor like Hopkins around. But fact is, this is a fight in a ring, with a referee, judges, a commissioner and TV cameras...and hundreds of thousands of viewers...Hopkins will not get away with murder, all said and done, even if the fight is very dirty; so let's not overdramatise the situation. And don't forget, Calzaghe, introverted and quiet as you see him, might not be an armed robber or a gangster or anything like that, but he is a winner and he will do whatever it takes to win too; he'll just have less of an evil stare whilst about it...Anyway, whatever Hopkins does before they get into the ring, once the first bell strikes, it's back to being in the zone and nothing else matters for Calzaghe...

I don't think Calzaghe is intimidated by Hopkins. But I'm wondering if the occasion will get to him. Hatton who is normally in control of himself lost his composure at the weigh in against Mayweather when he grabbed the mic and started ranting. Will the pressure get to Calzaghe in his first fight in America?

Certainly not anywhere close to the extent it got to Hatton. (Not least because he saw what happened to the Brit with his own eyes, and because he is conscious that the pressure will be there and that Hopkins is trying to beat him at mind-games.) Not sure Hatton realised what was happening to him, so he got carried away, big time!

I think this has to do with the evil mindset as long as you have the boxing skills to go along with it. Hopkins has crossed the line to the other side from where you really don't come back from - you can't learnt it in school and you can't have a late start... He's old enough to know why everybody wants to whack him. Maybe he believes em all but he must know somebody's gotta be lying or maybe they're all lying. When you can't see the angles no more, you're in trouble, baby, you're in trouble. Calzaghe is a great boxer but he's also a hometown boy who runs in the green valleys of South Wales, by Newbridge. Hopkins is rehabilitated, reassimilated and relocated from the joint but when you're a gangsta, you don't get reformed, you just can't buck it forever, you gotta stop sometime, it catches up with you and you run out of wind... Calzaghe has fought hard fights like the Celtic Warrior Steve Collins did before him - Collins boxed and fought hard Eubank in Glens Garden Arena, Millstreet, Ireland, with the use of Hypnotist Dr. Tony Quinn, with the Shamrock designed on his hair and all, he dropped Eubanks and got dropped himself, held on and outfought Chris... Calzaghe followed the blueprint and didn't get psyched out by Eubank and outfought him in Cardiff... Eubank was an eccentric character and had charisma but he was a Gent in England, Hopkins is a cold-blooded, mean individual in the US. The only reason I match Calzaghe with Hops now is because Nard is old and that can catch up with him... Nothing else.
