Lacy and Kessler are hailed as Calzaghe's most impressive wins. The Lacy fight a boxing lesson and the Kessler fight a hard fought but clear victory. If the present day Hopkins were to face these same opponents at 168-175, what tactics does he employ and what results does he get? Also if a prime Hopkins steps up to 168 to face the same fighters, what tactics + what results?
i would choose bernard to beat lacy. dont rate lacy hes very overrated. but i think kessler has too much power for bernard too much speed and conditioning i think bernard UD over lacy and kessler TKO 8th round over Bernard hopkins
I agree. Lacy isn't at all in the same league as Bhop, whereas Kessler Takes out the X in late rounds/clear UD - work rate and accuracy.
What? Kessler had stamina problems during that fight, he said that he would train his physique differently for his next match-up.
Lacy gets his ass handed to him by either Hopkins ( possibly even more so than Joe did ) but I equally reckon Kessler would be too stong for either Hopkins !
He fought the 12th at a very high pace, I don't think it was stamina more he couldn't get his shots off from about 6/7th round. In the Andrade fight he threw a tremendous amount of punches.
hopkins beats them both with a little bit of doubt with kessler at this time... prime hopkins beats them both without a doubt
Current Hopkins looses to both badly. (Not the current Lacy, the version that was destroying everything in his path) Prime Hopkins stops Lacy late after giving a beating of Calzaghe proportions. Kessler will be competitive but is clearly outpointed. I'd expect it to be an interesting and cagey fight with MK a worthy opponent but I cant see him beating a prime Hopkins.
It's funny how so many people act like Hopkins is shot just because he merely beat Winky Wright :nono
Just my opinion. I thought he looked awful. Guess we'll find out soon. Btw I wont be likely to give Joe any credit if he beats Hopkins unless Hopkins drastically improves. Also if Hopkins wins (which would shock me) then I'll obviously learned a huge amount about boxing which is all good!
