It's inexplicable. Not only did Hopkins win a one-sided contest by taking Winky out of his game, but he proved to be the much more intelligent fighter, too. That people are dismissing this victory is simply laughable. He imposed his will on Winky mentally and beat him down physically and he did so in systematic fashion. Anyone ever remember Winky looking so beaten and battered at the end of a contest? :nod
Stevie Wonder can see that Hopkins just edged it by two points or so. You're acting like he punished Wright for 12 rounds. :nut
He did. Have you seen how he got Wright bitching to the referee. He broke Wright's spirit in there. Anyone who's boxed knows that a big part of the game is to break the other guys spirit. Half the battle is won when you impose your will.
Hopkins beat Winky close but easy. Thats how I saw the fight. Had alot of money on Hopkins in that night and knew i think from the 6th or 7th round that it was in the bag.
Had it 117-111. Just like 2 of the judges. I remember a lot of the people watching it with me were unhappy with the scores. I couldn't understand why.
I had it 116-112, though it could have been wider, in accordance with two of the judges. After 8 sessions, it was 76-76 on my card, with ol'Popkins winning the last four. OK the cut didn't help Winky, but FFS, all fighters get cut at some stage, not all scream like a ***** to the referee for help.
Prime Hopkins beats Kessler and Lacy. Hopkins would beat Lacy right now, and probably Kessler as well.
