HBO don't want it. Calzaghe got vilified for humiliating a past it superman.
I feel nauseous at the thought of it....What will it prove.

Is it just revenge from a bitter old man who's aged far better than the bloke down the road who beat him years ago.

It's no warm up for Hopkins vs Adamek, Haye, Vitali Klitchsko...(ok I made that last one up but you get the picture).

Wouldn't he be better of fighting someone who'd test him a little before he goes for something bigger.

Or do you see Roy pulling a rabbit out of the hat, a miracle of Moses type proportions:think

I'm a big Hopkins fan, but I don't like this fight. To be fair though, Dawson's been ****ing around fighting Tarver and Johnson for the past two years and Hopkins has been wanting this grudge match for years. I'll judge Hopkins on who he fights after he KO's Jones.

I know you are and you know he's going to stop Jones.
Why is he doing it, it must purely be about revenge, no legacy, no real money and criticism from many different quarters for pusuing it.
Why not Dawson, Pascal or Cloud!

As I said, Dawson's been ****ing around with Tarver and Johnson for the past two years and the other two you mentioned had fights arranged. The one we all missed out on was Adamek v Hopkins for the cruiserweight title, but I don't think Adamek's people ever really wanted it. Sure Hopkins gave them a lowball offer, but Adamek's people didn't even negotiate.

But to answer your question, yes it's all about revenge. Hopkins said on ESPN recently he would consider a Dawson fight. I think this is his last year in boxing.

I'm not sure he stops Jones you know.

I don't doubt for a second that he will win handily - in fact I hope he does - but he isn't going to go hell for leather like Danny Green did.

I think your right about his last year, hows he going to finish?

Walk away on a win or suddenly found wanting against a far more powerful, younger fighter like Haye.

Do you think Dawson might suddenly hit his peak against the master Hopkins? or get found out...

I'm not so sure Roy can Hopkins precise sneaky counters, he doesn't have the speed to avoid or the chin. Saying that he's probably still got a punch he put down Calzaghe (Forearm) and slapped up Lacy:think

Hopkins at this stage is cashing out, he's collecting his pension fund and so is Roy and i'm not mad at it because Bernard has kinda earnt it. No matter what we think there is still alotta loyal Roy Jones fans out there and they're big enough names to get decent numbers, now it might not be huge numbers but if they do close to 500,000 (which they will) thats still better risk/reward for Hopkins then against someone like Chad who is just too much work for Hopkins for little monatory reward.

I think Jones might try a bit of a Leonard vs Hagler on him - Hopkins is a real gym rat and is always in top condition but his legs must start to desert him at some stage :think

He can still bang a bit no question, even though Lacy was ****ed he still took plenty of bombs from Taylor without going over.....

    Hopkins 118-110 in a snoozer.

I doubt Hopkins will bother trying to lure Taylor into the ring to avenge his other two legitimate losses.... and will call it a day there and then in the ring with his hand in the air.

Yeah Roy's still got some poke I reckon, snoozer, check

You may well off hit the nail on the head there.. like a proper ahem* naughty person Hopkins don't like to let someone get one over on him and once he's got them back he can sleep easy.. can you bet on Hopkins retiring after the fight?

Yep its beyond pointless, even more pointless than Calzaghe's if thats possible. At least he had a few wins over poor competition leading into Calzaghe to build a very SMALL bit of hype.

He just got KO'd in a round by Danny Green!

Blatantly a cashing out fight for both, Hopkins knows he'll win and Jones knows he'll lose but the money is good.
