Roy Jones stopped Jeff Lacy...........Nobody Stops Jeff Lacy. Roy Jones still has some magic. Roy Jones knows he will loose..? are you for ****ing real..? Roy Jones is a winner, and he goes into no fight...! "Thinking that he will lose"
Jones was a winner. The last few years he's been losing. Roy Jones is not a stupid man, he might talk with bluster in public because he has to, but deep down he knows.
Of course Hopkins won't go hell for leather like Green, why would he? He's capable of stopping Jones without being stupid. Hopkins wants one more meaningful fight, and he knows this isn't it. I found his interview on ESPN interesting, he wasn't talking about Haye anymore. Hopefully he's seen sense as I could see Haye KO'ing him. I think Hopkins will call out his next opponent after he beats Jones. If it's Dawson, I could see Hopkins winning that fight quite comfortably. Dawson's a very good technical boxer, but he's nothing spectacular imo. I think Hopkins would take him to school. Adamek at cruiser would be good, but I don't think Tomasz is ever coming back to cruiser. So, for me, the only two opponents are Haye and Dawson. I think (and hope) it will be the latter.
....... yeeeeeeeees???? This fights all about Hopkins obsession avenging the 1 guy in his mind trully beat him. All the other fights he lost were close and 1s Hopkins objects to the decision. As for RJ, it seems sad that like so many he cant let go of the sport :-( 1st round ko to Danny Green, then in someways a more damaging slow methodical beatdown at the hands of Hopkins scarily might not even be enough 4 former sensation RJ to see sense
I've not seen that much of Dawson, but from what I've seen I don't see the big fuss about him. Whether Hopkins will have enough against a prime late-20's slickster, time will tell.
As interesting a fight dawson would be, despite chads obvious talent, the guy cant achieve a sell out in his own living room. Back to the risk-reward buisness why fight a dangerous young fighter for peanuts when he can fight a waaaay past-his best shot RJ for... well yea peanuts!!
I have zero interest in this fight. It's a joke. Two boxers cashing in on their reputations. Hopkins still has something left, he should fight someone relevant.
The thing is, he's not that slick. He's a solid pro and a good guy in general who deserves his big fight. But Hopkins does nearly everything he does but better, Dawson doesn't even have a particularly good workrate. His handspeed would be Hopkins' main concern. He'll fight at least once more after Jones, he's made that pretty obvious. If it's not Haye, who will it be? Okay, he'd beat him handily. Better way of phrasing it?
So Pavlik, Calzaghe, Tarver, Taylor were all irrelevant? Give the guy a break, he's 45. Let's not forget, he was only out of the ring so long because he couldn't secure a Calzaghe rematch and the Adamek deal couldn't be made.
