I imagine Bernard Hopkins could have staged his upcoming fight in Vegas, or Atlantic City, or even in Philly, but instead, he chose to stage the fight in Washington D.C. at the D.C. Armoury.

I feel that Hopkins has a great grasp of the stage and where he can present this fight in a region that appreciates good technical boxing, DC.

Washington will be a largely Pro-Hopkins crowd, and the fans there are fans that truly appreciate the sport of boxing.
On any week of the month, and any month of theyear a person can attend a good fight in Washington DC or 40 miles away in Baltimore or Glen Bernie, MD.

Fans in both of these progressive towns understand boxing and understand the talents Hopkins brings to the fight game and what it is he has accomplished over his 20+ year professional boxing career. I expect there will be a good crowd in attendance to see Hopkins once again, make history.

Though I am bias, I couldn't agree more. Plus everytime Hopkins is in town, respect is obvious. Look at the current championship caliber fighters out of the DMV:

    Peterson Brothers
    Gary Russel, Jr.
    Dusty Hernandez-Harrison

Ironically, I was scheduled to be in Philly the wekeend of the fight, though, I may be changing plans now:yep

Sugar Ray Leonard (MD, near D.C.)
    Riddick Bowe

being in D.C. may also present a psychological advantage to Hopkins and a disadvantage to Shumenov.

I haven't heard who's on the undercard, but it should be a good venue.
