I've never seen the first Hopkins-Allen fight and I've got a few queries about it.

Before Mills Lane pushed Hop's out of the ring I've heard that Allen was giving him all sorts of problems with his speed and awkwardness,so much so that Allen accused Bernard of exaggerating the extent of his ankle injury to avoid a possible loss.

I know it's probably a moot point considering Hopkins' wins in their next two fights but does anyone think Hopkins was playing up his injury?

Was Allen really a chance to upset Bernard?

Does this fight show that Hopkins for all his skill and nous did have trouble adapting during a fight to quicker, unorthodox opponents?

    What do you think?

It was in the 4th actually but you're probably right,it was way too early to say if there was a chance of an upset, although one judge did have Allen leading at the time of the NC.

Allen was probably just talking **** about Hopkin's faking his injury to create a controversy that wasn't there to begin with.

Allen is underated, he was a very good boxer. Bernard was unable to outbox him, so in the rematch he made it a very dirty fight to neutralize Allen's advantages.
