I think 6 years ago its a 50/50 fight, but Hopkins is too old now to win, he isnt busy enough.

Hopkins has achieved far more than Calzaghe. Don't kid yourself.

That said, B-Hop vs. Calzaghe will be close, especially since Hopkins is now 42 and is not the same fighter in his prime. However, JC is moving up in weight, and it will be interesting to see if it will affect his speed and footwork.

If the referee that is chosen is one like Tony Weeks or Dave Parris, who will allow holding and fighting in clinches, then Hopkins will have an edge. But if you get a guy like Jay Nady, Calzaghe could win the decision.

I bet even Hopkins' respect for Calzaghe jumped way up when he saw Calzaghe beat Kessler the way he did. You have to remember that when Hopkins called out Calzaghe, it was before that fight. And before that, Calzaghe's best ticket was his win against a one dimensional Lacy.

I too love Hopkins but if i were a betting man, i would say Calzaghe. I'm hoping that the old man has one great fight left though.

i think the ref is a very important factor in who wins this fight as well.

calzaghe needs to win this technical and hopkins needs to win this by breaking the action up.

ref comes into play a lot in this fight.

I will admit I too have fully converted to Calzaghe fan. I never hated him or anything, just hadn't had the chance to see him fight until the last year or so. And I guess I had bought into the millions of posts from haters about his resume, etc... But once I've seen him now rock the **** out of Lacy, *Really can't say much for the Manfredo fight, but still you could see what you're lookin at, and then the way he RULED Kessler and I'm sold. He's one of the best fighters I've ever seen.

All that said, I'm still on the fence with the Hopkins fight. But gut is strongly saying Calzaghe.

Again with the "American-thing" with Calzaghe... Why does the whole "not American" thing apply to him moreso than any other fighter in the history of the gloved era?

I'm picking Calzaghe by UD by the way, in a harder fight than most people say, but still 8-4 - 7-5ish...

I think Joe could defeat BHop just like I thought Tarver was going to

The one time I picked against my boy Hops, was when he fought Tarver and
he whooped that milk dud almost as bad as he did Tito years ago. I know
he didnt look that great against Winky, but im hoping he has one more fight
left in him. Too bad Joe is great too.

    Bull****.

Joe Calzaghe isn't half as gifted as Naseem Hamed. he just has those other intangible qualities that Hamed lacked, like sanity and professionalism.

He's still gonna kick Hopkins arse, but he wasted the best part of his career. Allow me to bring up an old post to illustrate this...

y'see even if he beats a 43 year old Hopkins, which probably will, he will never be an ATG like Hopkins.
