Those slaps be hard! :deal. Joe cops a lot of flack but he was a good fighter. Hopkins success has made the win look so much better then it was at the time.

I find the Jones fight hard to take serious in all honesty. It came off as a glorified sparring session with a bit of blood .

Before I read any of the replies, I had Hopkins up at the end of that fight. Not a robbery, but Hopkins won it for me.

It was a battle between two master of adaption. As a result we got a real chess match probably the type of fight that if you were a trainer you would enjoy noticing the nuances of two greats constantly adapting to the others style. I felt that Hopkins started better. Then struggled as joe warmed to the task.

I think a fight between Calzaghe and ward wouldn't look too different from this one in all honesty.

Thought Calzaghe was a clear winner.
People say Hopkins was landing the cleaner shots, but other than at the end of round 7 after a headbutt and round one when calzaghe was standing square on, I didnt see them. Calzaghe landed far many more cleaner shots. Calzaghe didnt win it on workrate, but because he could land his left more than Hopkins could land his right, and that was down to Calzaghes good footwork. I thought Calzaghe won round 7, by the way.
    Clear Calzaghe win

  7. if i remember most 'pundits' and media had calzaghe winning

i think hbo said that no one had ever landed that many punches on hopkins as joe

:deal Enzo's face was a picture he wanted to throttle Powell but knew to leave it but Dean was right. He's ranting like a mentalist at Joe when Joe's winning ..

    Joe and Enzo's convo's  ''He's cheating man..'' ''I don't give a **** if he's cheating!''.

Yeah it's mad to think he was looking back although when he calmed down he was quite thoughtful and unique in approach and Joe understand his A and B stuff and musical notes references to boxing.

TBH he did well with Enzo until he lost interest or seemed to way Enzo spoke when lifting beer barrells in prep for Ola fight..

I think this is one of those fights where its okay to say 'Calzaghe won it on work-rate'. Hopkins really didn't land enough. He landed some good shots but there is a point where all those half-shots, all those cuffing shots, they add up. Plus Joe did land some decent shots. They'e both expert ring generals, they cancelled each out a hell of a lot, but ultimately Hopkins just didn't quite get the balance right. Maybe it was age, maybe it was Calzaghe ad******g to his adjustments which Hopkins isn't all that used to, whatever the reasoning, it worked out that way.
