It is time for Hopkins to defend his "title".

If Dawson and Hopkins were to fight in March, 2008, who wins
    and why?

Dawson IMO. Too fast and skillful enough not to fall into the "crafty veteran" traps that Hopkins sets. Plus, as I have said before, Hopkins workrate is horrid now. He cannot sustain a high work rate, and Dawson would exploit this. Dawson is also 6'3 and would most likely be the bigger man, so he won't be pushed around.

There's no way Hopkins would take this fight and he shouldn't. He's too past his prime to take on Dawson.. especially since the only way someone could beat Dawson without big knockout power is to throw a ton of punches consistently. I'm a huge Hopkins fan, but I think he should stay away from Dawson/Calzaghe/Kessler. He needs to retire on a high note at this point. If he wants one more match, he should just beat Roy Jones for personal satisfaction or try to add one more thing to his legacy by taking on the Ibragimov-Holyfield winner.

Thanks for your opinions my fellow posters......now if B-Hop will just take the challenge......maybe we can get another high quality bout next Spring.

I disagree. Dawson most definitely does have KO power b/c he is so damned quick and he hits everybody he fights with a whole lot of punches and its nothing they can do about it. He has too much quickness. He would be the only guy to literally beat the crap out of hopkins or anybody else at 168-175. He uses that right hand like no other southpaw that I have seen. He is Roy Jones quick as well too.

Dawson win the fight on points might just be a bit to fast for the crafty old man but the fight will never happen imo hopkins fights winner jc vc kessler and then calls it a day

Hopkins as usual is being counted out but i think that he could go in there, counter Dawson and rough him up on the inside, and win a UD

Dawson SD Hopkins. Hopkins yells rats at two of the judges.

dawson by brutal KO. He will retire hopkins. And its a shame because bernard should not be fighting anymore.

Dawson takes a wide decision from Hopkins, making him look very old and stiff. He has too much handspeed and is too big for Bernard, and his workrate would make this a relatively easy win.

I don't think he could really hurt Hopkins, but BHop doesn't punch hard enough to really hurt him, either.

I'm the biggest Chad fan in the East Side Boxing community and NO WAY do I think anyone "brutally" KO's Hopkins, except maybe a heavyweight.

I agree. Hopkins would struggle big-time to be competitive against any good, in-shape HW, but I don't think they'd actually stop him. He's too crafty. The only one I'd predict to do it would be Wladimir, simply because the throws such straight punches, and with good speed.

    Dawson wins.

However, I only see Hopkins signing to fight the Calzaghe-Kessler winner or the Jones-Tito winner.

Hopkins, because Dawson has never fought a seasoned vet as versatile as B-Hops.

    Hopkins TKO10

Hopkins gets so much respect it's not even funny.

Officially, J. Taylor beat Hopkins twice but it seems like him being "robbed" in one or both fights has made people give Hopkins even more respect. It's amazing. He's 43 and a lot of people still pick him to beat some of the best in the game. It's a tribute to his incredible mastery of the sport.
