Hopkins vs. Clazaghe: Who's the more accomplished fighter

Hopkins is only slightly more accomplished, the competitive loss to Jones really adds a lot IMO, as he was the only person around the time to give Jones a fight and H2H, Jones is one of the best ever.

If that was taken from his resume, I'd edge it for Calzaghe.

 

Hops of course, could change though.

 

Taylor wasn't a complete bust and I think that the fact that Taylor had any title defense, made Hopkins' defeat look better. Then Hopkins bounces back and wins the lineal/Ring Magazine LHW title from Tarver and defended it against a man who many think beat Taylor in Winky Wright. In all it seems as if Hopkins redeemed himself in the 2 defeats he suffered from Taylor. Taylor wasn't a fluke by any means ...

How does Kessler take Winky and Tarver? ... he got his fame off losing to Joe Calzaghe and almost got knocked out may I add. This guy hasn't fought anyone -- he beat Beyer (who unofficially lost to Sakio Bika) and he beat Mundine (who the **** is Mundine?) ...

I'm interested to see how he holds up against Miranda after suffering his first defeat. Kessler is not on Hopkins level and if it were Hopkins and Kessler going H2H, I doubt if you have Kessler as a favorite.

I don't really agree with Kessler a relative unknown getting so much respect when he only had 1 televised fight in the states and his resume if full of guys that no one has ever heard of - and with no one that has did anything signifant in the sport. .

Tarver is a helluva victory considering that he was the universally recognized undisputed LHW champ and was the only man to beat RJJ twice. Hopkins holds wins over the 2 guys that beat RJJ, yet he gets no cred at all.

The same guy who has fought (4) sure Hall of Famers (Tito, DLH, RJJ, Tarver) to Calzaghe's zero (0)

Why isn't Bernard getting any respect? Despite rather you think he's going to win or lose ... the one thing that man deserves is respect -- he seen it all and been through it all.

He's fought some of the best in his division and hasn't ducked or dodged anyone.

While Calzaghe (who I like alot - but not cause of his resume) has a resume full of fillers and fringe conteders ... gets an ATG status on these boards.

The more accomplished fighter is Hopkins -- there's no disputing that. For anyone who questions that name any Hall of Famers on Calzaghe's resume.

Compare the level of competition between the two ... look at the long list of legit fighters on Hopkin's resume -- then look at the Peter Manfredo's, Evans Ashira's, Mario Veits, the Miguel Jimminez, the Rick Thornberry's, of the boxing world. Yeah Kessler was an up and comer but you can't name more than 2 noticeable names on his resume as well.

On top of the 4 H.O.F'ers you got Williams Joppy (former WBA MW champ) Keith Holmes (former WBC MW champ) Syd Vanderpool, the preditor Howard Eastman, Glenn Johnson, and Robert Allen ...

All who are heard of and who've done something in the sport.

Kessler will be judged on his fight w/ Miranda and so on ... don't give him the crown already.

 

Yeah, because after that his opposition is just decent. No ELITE natural MW's or higher, but that's not all his fault, the MW division was just weak and took some overrated former Welter's to bring it attention, to watch Hopkins dealt with.

One of his best wins is Johnson, he basically Lacyed Johnson, that's impressive, only man to stop him also. I rate this win over the vaunted Trinidad victory for example.

H2H Johnson is more potent than Tito at MW.

On other hand, being competitive with the 90's Jones means a whole lot. How many of those guys going around? None.

Being competitive with Jones is something Calzaghe could barely do on his best night, so I rate Hopkins for that well as a comparable accomplishment.

You'll see how big i difference there is, when you compare Kessler and Bhops fights against JC, come april 19th
