Completely agree. Dawson had numerous advantages that he used to the fullest fighting a smart fight. Hopkins fought a great defensive fight, and although he was accurate, just wasn't able to neutralize Dawson's output and make his shots count for more. Exactly how I see it. Cloud just isn't consistent. I can't imagine a scenario where Cloud throws and lands more for 7 or 8 rounds, unless Hopkins becomes as shot as Mosley or RJJ all of a sudden. Hurting Hopkins is the biggest concern. Out-pointing him? Not so much IMO. And great avatar :good
Cloud wins this fight, Hopkins doesn't have the physical attributes or work rate to win this fight. Cloud is durable, a superior athlete, who will work harder and more consistantly than Hopkins. Everyone points to Clouds last fight seemingly forgetting any other fights...Cloud is serious business which will be shown tomorrow night.
"Becomes as shot"? Bro he's damn near 50...it's a wrap, no disrespect to anybody but what are y'all even basing this idea that Hopkins has a legit shot on? Regardless what you think of Cloud it becomes irrelevant when you factor in Hopkins is 50 and finished, I honestly hope he can spoil and just keep from getting hurt. This romanticism has gotten crazy, the man is done.
Hopkins by UD. Cloud is really only being given a chance due to Hopkins advanced age and his more obvious decline in his recent fights against Dawson and Pascal. If Hopkins' is not shot then he wins but nobody should be surprised if Hopkins finally begins to look his age.
I going to put money down but...I'm still not sure.... I don't see a KO in the fight I want to bet on Bhop because of the movement & IQ...he can out box Cloud... BUT...Cloud has the hand speed & WORK RATE...I'm scared that he will apply pressure on Hopkins & Bhop will just survive...not offering much of a work rate... Cloud UD/SD I don't know
Cloud by a close decision. (I have a vCash bet on the under). It's not that I think Cloud is better than Hopkins. It's that I don't think Hopkins can keeep the pace he needs to for long enough to win the fight. I've been wrong about this in the past, (Pavlik)
B-Hop should win but he's developed a habit of fighting like an absolute idiot early on fights and leaving himself too much to do. If this was a rematch situation then definately B-Hop but I don't trust him in the first few rounds of this fight, and Cloud will be at his strongest then.
How is it a wrap when he barely got hit flush by Dawson? He's at the end of the road, but if he were truly done, he would have gotten destroyed by Chad. So him being truly done is not at all a foregone conclusion. There's nothing romantic in recognizing merit in losing a competitive decision.
I was originally thought Hopkins would win a SD until Hopkins shot himself in the foot when he turned to King and said, "Enjoy your day, because after [Saturday] there will be a big celebration of your long-lasting promotional legacy as I send you into retirement." Now I see a Cloud UD no matter what happens inside the ring.
Cloud is tougher than Dawson and isn't going to slow the pace just to avoid getting hit like Dawson did. Cloud stood toe to toe with Johnson and slugged it out for 12 rounds...he's faught through cuts and fatigue...he's not going to alter his plan just to avoid contact. Dawson allowed the fight to be at a snails pace. Dawson also didnt like fighting on the inside and forced a reset when Hookins got inside. Cloud wants to fight on the inside and is satisfied to trade if need be. Hopkins isn't gonna be able to rest like against Dawson.
