    Floyd has charisma though and Mosley is pretty exciting.

    JMM said it best in the last 24/7.
    In order for a fight to be great it has to be violent.

    The African American style is not really about violence. There is some exceptions but on the general its more scoring points than scoring KOs.

    I don't know if it's the recession and people are just giving anything but the can't miss fights a miss, or boxing has really accelerated it's plunge, but you only have to go back 4-5 years and ppv's like this were doing OK business on a regular basis. In 2007 Hopkins got 300k buys for a fight against Winky Wright, which was a bit of a mismatch size wise and most guessed would be boring. His fights with Jermain Taylor got 350-400 thousand buys. Meaningless but fairly exciting fight like the Mosley/Vargas bouts were in the same ball park. Now it's huge buys for Pac or Mayweather and nothing for everyone else.

    That card featured a lot of local fighters, including Shane and LA is about as close to Mexico as you can get in the USA (literally and figuratively) so it wasn't all Margo. But, it was a better fight, card, and crowd.

    Hopkins vs. Dawson only had 8400 in the crowd. I live in OC and didn't drive 45 minutes to take them up on their $20 upper deck or $40 mid-tier discounted tickets.

    I was actually at that fight and it was dead as hell! I usually have to wait in a long line to buy a drink at most the fights ive been, but that night just went up to the counter.

    And shows clearly that "the Black Goofy" Dawson is a boxer noone cares about.

    Very poor ppvs.

    Arturo Abraham could fight a random taxidriver and attract more ppv's.

    about 80% of the fans were Margarito fans.
    when Mosley talked to HBO post fight interview, the STAPLES crowd bood.
    when Margarito talked, the STAPLES crown roared and cheered for him.

    That proves that Margarito was the main draw.
    When Mosley fought Mayorga at Home Depot Center, 10 miles from STAPLES, there were about 7,000 in attendance, with about 3,500 that actually paid.

    probably not...enough time has went by and manny is the face of boxing right now...even with an opponent thats really has less of a chance to win than than ortiz did against mayweather
