you know that if the money's right, Hopkins will take this fight. If Dawson destroys Mendoza impressively, I think we are in for a treat!! Hopkins 116-114!
i think this would be the fight we all dreaded...where hopkins looks like an old man, beaten, looking up from the canvas
No way. Dawson would be faster, bigger and stronger. Dawson by UD. Hop will use heaps of lateral movement and just become elusive once he has trouble landing on Chad effectively.
It depends on Dawsons ability to avoid the hugz and buttz of BHop. Its very unlikely to come off though. BHop can make a load of cash fighting other past it fighters with big names, hed be silly to actually take on anyone in their prime right now.
actually if you look around there isnt really any money fights for hopkins to make Ideally Calzaghe would beat Kessler and then move up to LHW for a mega blockbuster fight but i dont think itll happen. Other than that i can only see Dawson coming off an impressive win... a Glen Johnson fight would be a financial turd
Hopkins should avoid Dawson....too fast, strong, big, well...everything at this point. Hopkins has looked good, but slow and hasn't been in there with anyone who can really press him.
Dawson and Calzaghe would comfortably beat Hopkins now. This isn't the 1930s, 43 year olds cannot compete with truly good fighters these days.
It'll never happen. If it did, Dawson would box circles around Hopkins and simply outwork him for a decision.
no big money fights? with the winner of calzaghe/kessler and jones/trinidad out there? and is bernard crazy enough to challenge the winner of ibragimov/holyfield? especially if holyfield wins (hypothetical...not making a prediction)? payday would be absolutely ginormous. not saying itll happen, but there's plenty of big money out there for bernard. is it right fro the legit, recognized champ to shut out younger fighters to collect paydays? maybe, maybe not...but it is what it is, boxing is a business first.
I can see Hopkins waiting to fight the Jones/Tito winner. I hqave a feeling that's what he ends up doing either way. Calzaghe and Dawson both beat him badly at this point in his career, while Tito and Jones are both big names who he could beat pretty easily.
