52 of u looked at this thread and not one opinion. What the hell happened to this forum?
This is a great match up that I've never seen mentioned before.
Maybe I should've just posted another Tyson vs Frazier for the fiftieth time and I would've had ten pages by now. Unbelievable

Hopkins was extremely impressive at 175 given his age. There's no bonus points for age in a H2H matchup, and E.M. Muhammad was a much sterner test for Hopkins than anyone he beat at 175.

Muhammad ran hot and cold but I see very little chance that Hopkins could beat Eddie if Eddie brought his A game. Actually, I don think Eddie has to be THAT sharp to beat Hopkins, it wouldn't take a Marvin Johnson-esque performance to do so

I'll give it to Muhammad based on strength of competition.

I'm looking at it more of a skill level than a resume.

Yes...it's hard to forget Eddie's short but memorable reign. He was brilliant for a very limited time.

Eddie ran so hot and cold and Bernard was so consistent Id favor Bernard. Besides Gregory was much better against come forward guys and Hopkins wouldnt fight Gregory's fight like that.

Yeah, Eddie ran 'hot and cold'. I'm an Eddie nut-hugger!' His worst opponent was himself. Bloats up to 200 to fight the over-rated Snipes then has to go into a steambath to make weight for Spinks?? He looked like a shriveled pear when he stepped in against the Jinx? After building a clear early lead he wilted late and was dumped late by a Jinx bomb and?...rose and finished the fight.
Did you know the Associated Press called the fight a 146-146 draw? Eddie brought so many attributes to the ring. Ring savvy, jab, great left hook (up and downstairs), numbing right, great set of whiskers (no one knocked this guy out) IMHO a BETTER pvp fighter than Michael Spinks. He was his own worst enemy. IMHO, had his head been screwed on straight he could easily been one of the greatest pvp fighters in boxing history.
Quite simply, a monster fighter who's demeanor and demons destroyed his legacy.

Interesting matchup. Both have strong fundamentals. Eddie has greater power. But that power doesn't mean too much if you can't hit your opponent. This would be a highly tactical battle. I can't envision an exciting fight at all. This would be a chess match. Eddie was a little stronger, I think at 175 lbs. when in shape. He would press forward, high guard. Bernhard would look to counter. Eddie's underated body attack would be an asset. Bernard would try to set traps. Eddie wouldn't fall for many. I think this one goes the distance and Gregory wins a 15 round split decision.

When's the next Eddie Mustafa nut-hugger meeting jowcol, because I'm one too. i think a sluggish, or an indecisive Eddie (vs Galindez) loses to Hopkins by a narrow decision....on the other hand,.....the one that took Marvin Johnson and Jerry The Bull Martin apart like a Mercedes mechanic (only better), would have beaten Hopkins.

This IS a great matchup...and I'll break out in hives if I ever see a thread on Tyson vs Frazier, or Foreman vs Vitali Klitschko thread again...and there are many others too that have been done to death.
