Hopkins vs Froch showdown is on the cards, says Hearn

Pretty sure Hopkins would skool Froch or any other SWM/LHW out there. Dawson could out point Hopkins but I do not know about his heart/will to win.

After Dawson maybe Ward.

Froch, I don't see it. And that is not an insult to Froch, just Hopkins is that good that it takes a very clever/skilled fighter to beat him at this stage.

I think people read too much into pascal who hardly make bhop work..

Froch has flaws yes but will be very busy against someone like bhop.. Remember what happened to bhop when he fought at a pace dictated by other fighters, JC an JT both took the old man out of his comfort zone. Something froch could achieve too. Not seeing bhop stop him either so he needs to be fighting at a higher pace to beat froch than he did against a lumbering pascal.

 

Not sure what to think of of this. I suspect Hearn is just doing his job and keeping Froch's name out there. Too many British people will remember Hopkins-Calzaghe and what an awful fight it was, not to mention Hopkins' antics. Besides, BHop is nearer to 50 than 40 and it would be a tough fight to sell to the wider public regardless of how much we know what a live opponent he still is. There are much better options out there imo, even if he loses to Ward. Pascal/Kessler rematches and Bute (provided he doesn't get embarrased by Ward) to name three, and the first two would probably be very easy to make and sell. If Froch beats Ward, I'd like to see him fight Bute, Kessler and Pascal in that order, then maybe Cleverley if Nathan hasn't been KTFO by then.

 

You have a point there but sometimes Frochs workrate goes down for some reason. Against Kessler and in the early rounds against Johnson this was the case.

 

Hopkins will win, but there's no doubt that Froch aspires to make children argue over who would win in a fight - him or Superman....

 

That fight could deteriorate into quite a dirty affair. More elbows, heads, low blows and other assorted dirty moves than legit punches.

 

Ward couldn't stop Miranda. Froch is far stronger, faster, more slick than Miranda

It would make an interesting fight. Although Hopkins is clearly the more skillful boxer, Froch too has skills but are underrated. I just hope that if a fight does happen between the two that Froch doesnt decide to coast early on and throw singular power punches. He has to constantly throw out his jab and put pressure on Bhop with a high workrate throughout. Froch will pose an awkward proposition for Master Bhop.....

 

Froch will train like a maniac and keep coming forward throwing punches every minute of every round. He will walk forwards while throwing a steady stream of hard jabs, most of which will not land flush, but they will get Hopkin's attention and keep him busy dealing with them.

He will make Hopkins work harder than he wants to and much more often than he wants to.

He will shrug off the half-dozen or so flush punches Hopkins lands per round.

He will miss a lot, get countered and lose four or five of the first seven rounds, but he will be mentally prepared for that and won't be discouraged by it.

By the ninth, 47 year old Hopkins is going to be out of gas and taking a beating. Hops will be stopped on his feet in the late rounds. Froch is not as skilled as Hopkins is, but it's a bad style matchup for the old man. Hopkins likes to spoil the fight and operate at his own pace, which is very slow on account of his limited stamina. Froch knows this and is smart enough in the ring to keep sight of the bigger picture. He'll miss a lot and get countered and lose rounds, but he'll be all the time forcing Hopkins to use twice as much energy as he wants to.

In the late rounds Froch will force Hopkins will go to the well again, and for the first time there will be nothing left. He will become a stationary target, and then Froch will pummel him until the ref stops it.

froch has to worry aboutward first. then if he wins we can think about a mega fight with b hop. although i dont see b hop losig to him

 

Froch will more than likely lose to Ward. But even if he loses big to Ward, he would still beat Hops. :good
