I think Froch is all wrong for Hopkins in a lot of ways
But I also think Hopkins is all wrong for Froch, too.
Both guys represent the personification of the other guy’s weaknesses.
Hopkins doesn’t want to be in there with a guy who is stronger than him, is mentally strong enough not to be put off his game by whatever Hopkins does to him pre-fight and during, and who hits hard.
Froch doesn’t want to be in there with a guy whose intelligence has the potential to render his power redundant, who knows more dirty tricks than him, and who moves as well as Hopkins (by which I mean with ring IQ as well as speed: knowing where to go as well as being fast enough to get there).
So I suppose I’m saying I’m not sure how that fight goes. If we see Froch land early and vicious, I think he could stop Hopkins, because I don’t think he’d let up the way Pascal did when he had Bernard down and flustered. If Froch can’t get to him early (and Hopkins will be even more aware of this than I am, cos the guy is a ****ing genius) then I think Hopkins has the talent to just mug him off for 12 rounds and win a 8-4 type decision.
