Hopkins has said he will probably be moving down to 168 in 2015 and it got me thinking about how he would fare in SMW.. Who would you have down to win Bhop vs Froch? Why? And how?

Hopkins may beathim still, hopkins would beat stevenson easily. But the cobra is a good fighter. Hmm I'll still go for hopkins because he was beaten by the best fighter in the world sergey KRUSHER kovalev. Froch is world class but he got be potshotted quite easily. 50/50

Good ****ysis, there is also no shame in losing to Kovalev. I still edge towards the cobra winning by a small margin.. It would be a great match up and I for one would love to see this happen!

I like Froch, but his style would be too easy for Hopkins to figure out. He's not that fluid of a fighter, and doesn't have the athleticism or handspeed of the fighters that have beat Hopkins in the past.

It will be a close, but a sloppy fight. I see Hopkins winning by UD.

Tough one, either guy can surprise you if you pick against them. I'll pick Froch by decision. Hopkins' punches won't hurt Froch and I think Carl's pressure, work rate and harder punches will get him the decision.

Easy win for the Alien. He could fight into his 60's with matchups like this.

Froch won't force Hopkins to shell up and run nearly as much as he did against Kovalev, that's for sure.

But how in the hell are we supposed to want this fight compared to other alternatives?

If Froch wins, "he beat a 50 year old who hadn't fought at a weight that low (168 lbs) in like 9 years and lost his last fight by 13 points."

And did I mention that Hopkins is 50 years old and hasn't fought at a weight that low (168 lbs) in like 9 years and lost his last fight by 13 points.

C'mon, Hop. Take an easy touch retirement fight or just retire.

I don't see Hopkins making 168 by any wild stretch of the imagination. He missed weight of 175 on the scale before coming back to make weight an hour later back in the first Pascal fight. I don't see him taking a fight below 175 (perhaps a 172 CW at lowest) draining down like that and if he does, it will go down just like the other famous comparable recent examples in Oscar dropping to 147 for first time in 7 years and Dawson dropping to 168 for first time in 6 years.

Excuse me? Explain how Hopkins could win please

Easy nights work for Froch at this stage of Hopkins career

Froch isn't Cloud, Murat or Shumenov

If anything The Cobra would b too physically fit for him, Carl would easily outwork him and Bernard certainly doesn't have the power to trouble Carl

And there is no way Froch is fighting Calzages left over from 10 years ago :deal

Groves is nowhere close to Hopkins yet Groves was handling Froch somewhat easily for about 8 rounds before the final flurry that prompted the (at the very least "slightly premature") stoppage... Froch turned it around entirely in the rematch but your post sounds a little fanboy with the term "easy nights work for Froch" and then saying Froch is no Murat or Shumenov without flipping the script and pointing to what could be said the other way around.

In the end, I would pick Froch to win for sure if the fight is at 168. But it's not out of the realm of possibility or even close for others to think Hopkins could win this fight, especially if it is Froch moving up to 175.

I'm no fanboy at all but there is no doubt that Hopkins Altho still fighting at 50 years old hasent has beaten a world class fighter since his win against kelly Pavlik (and we all know the circumstances surrounding that fight) almost 7 years ago. He has been defeating average to above average fighters (which at his age is highly commendable) no one in the league of Carl Froch

Carl Froch struggled against Groves as u mentioned because he got caught with as sweet a left hook straight right combo from a big puncher as ur ever going to see in the first round of the fight, he took at least 3/4 rounds to recover from that, the fact he got up to win that fight after sagging onto the ropes is nothing short of remarkable....

Froch is notoriously bad against young, quick fighters, such as Dirrell , Groves, Taylor, everything BHOP is not which is why I say it's an easy nights work....

Fighting at 50 is commendable and nearly unbelievable but let's not try and kid ourselves and think that BHOP is really competing at the highest level where Carl Froch is

I would favor Froch at 175 by a 9-3/8-4 type decision.
B-Hop is really showing it now and the beating he took in the 12th must have taken his toll on him.
That said, it would be a stupid fight for Froch to take on this point.
