That's been the problem with any would-be Hopkins opponent dating back to the aftermath of his win against Pavlik. He's always going to be a lose/lose situation, and I know a lot of guys who picked Hopkins to school Kovalev aren't giving Sergey his due. Note that while I picked Hopkins there, I'm not one of those people who refuses to give him credit. Quite the contrary.

That said, it is a lose-lose situation for Golovkin, but all the same it would still be his best opponent to date, and by a huge margin.

It's one of the few "plausible" Gennady fights out there that actually interests me a good deal on a personal level. But I know it isn't apt to happen.

As far as the "big fight" goes, didn't you say that was happening before mid-May this year? ;)

I think Ward is too much for Hopkins at this age. I like his chances far more against Gennady or Froch. And obviously Chavez Jr.

You won't get flack from me. I can see that happening. But then again, I'm the only one who picked Hopkins.

Although, in reality, I included the "Undecided" option fully intending to choose that myself. But when it came to clicking a box, I became compelled and couldn't resist voting for Hopkins UD.

Golovkin kills him, Hopkins looked ancient last time out.

I will admit the possibility that, between Nov 2014 and now, Hopkins could have aged a great deal in "fighter years". But assuming he's somewhat close to what he was when he faced Kovalev, he would be competitive with Golovkin.

Gennady simply isn't as good as Kovalev. He isn't as big, he isn't as powerful, and he doesn't posses the unique blend of traits that enabled Kovalev to dominate Hopkins.

Pretty sure I heard that B-Hop is going to be teaming up with John David Jackson again for his next fight.

Hopkins should retire. No more fights since he has nothing to prove anymore.

I wasn't expecting it from you.......but if I didn't go with GGG by KO most GGG fans will consider me a turncoat.

Not saying that that's not a possibility.... but, regardless of what most seem to think GGG is nowhere near the puncher Kovalev is in all likelihood, it wasn't that Hopkins just got old, he went into survival mode and was scared to let his hands go after the first KD, and I doubt GGG's power can illicit that reaction out of him.

EXACTLY!!! You can never write off a Golovkin stoppage, but Hopkins is crafty, and unless he's aged extremely poorly these past 14 months or so, I cannot see a guy like Golovkin stopping someone who went 12 with Kovalev.

Besides the fact he'd get never-ending hate for beating up an old man if he did blow him out of the ring (which I think he would), but it'd be at 168 and he'd have to squeeze back down not that long after for Sept fight w/ Canelo.

And on the May fight, it was based off the expectation that K2 WOULDN'T have agreed to a voluntary defense and WBC would've had to have made a decision to either choose Canelo or their own rules. Apparently, K2 was totally cool with "marinating" the fight as well. Which, to me, waiting isn't doing much. This fight is already as hyped as it's going to get. Having GGG fight Wade and Canelo fight a no hoper is not hyping the fight anymore. If anything it might hurt it. Canelo coming off his win with Cotto was perfect hype.

Ggg in the ams was used to fighting men much taller than him and mostly the mobile type like Dirrell and Bute. At this point, he's too much for Hopkins, not only will he pressure like Calzaghe, he'll counter him like Kov and won't be surprised if he outboxes him like Kov did too. This isn't one dimensional Pavlik he'd be facing.

I am not sure why people are always mentioning K2. On 28th of January 2016 he told again that they have their own promotion company and he doesn't have anything with Klitchko's company. It is Loeffler who acts under K2 licence.

I respectfully disagree with you on this.

    But....

...I couldn't agree more on this!
