Hopkins is still on many top 10 p4p lists, he is still a good fighter who can challange anyone. RJJ has been shot for years. Hopkins UD.
Hopkins by wide UD. Hes still a class fighter. Alot gets made of his age but he takes care of himself like no other & I think he is a more complete fighter now, ie do you think the Hopkins of now would have lost to the guy he could only draw with on his 2nd world title attempt? or would struggle with the A Echoles he fought? Or think he wouldnt try doing more now than when he fought Jones? He looked better than ever in his win over Pavlik. Hes still no.1 rated LHW by The Ring mag. It dosent seem to damage anyones career in the eyes of his hardcore fans when he wins, but alot of critism gets given to anyone who beats him.
Hopkins. I didn't see the Ornelas fight though. But based off of the last showing I've seen him in with Pavlik, I don't see him slipping to the point where Danny Green is going to derail him.
If he thinks he buried a legend considering the context, maybe he should go after Bob Foster. He might bury him too.
Tough one to call. I'm riding the fence for now. Oh if Hopkins can stay verticle he'll probably win on points. I'll say Hopkins on a close decision.
Hopkins would win a wide decision over Green. Jones was shot and Green capitalized on it. Hopkins is still going strong and would take Green apart. I give Jones credit for his smoke and mirrors streak he had going. He beat two smaller, worn out, and stylistically troubled fighters who both had good names in Trinidad and Lacy. But his legs and ability to fight three minutes a round have been gone for several years now. Doubt the fight ever happens but if it does Hopkins wins.
I'm sorry to say that I think this is the end for Hopkins. This has nothing to do with Green being an especially good fighter or Hopkins' lack of ATG-ness and all to do with Green being the WRONG fighter for him to be fighting at this stage of his career.
