Hopkins SD can be a late starter at times even though haggler had been 15 i think? stamina is usuall a strength of hopkins to i think bar the calzaghe fight

    thats just my 2 cents

I'd love to see that fight. IMO Hagler's superior jab and conditioning gives him the edge.

Hopkins UD25 - 15rounds to 10 :D It would be fun to see a 25rounder once in a while, I think Delahoya should be made to fight 25rounders, as should Hatton (who often is nearly out in the 12th) and those fat heavyweights

I have one crucial aspect about Hopkins v Hagler that nobody else ever mentions when they analyse the fight. It's a secret for the time being. I just need to view some footage for it to be rubber stamped beyond dispute.

I can't see any reason for picking one over the other, really, over this distance. It's just murder.

I'd rather see them fight over 4.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to relegate B-Hop's sense of ring generalship to "some neat tricks"!
Indeed, Hagler did stop many game, tough challengers (Mugabi, Roldan...) but none of them can be compared to Bernard Hopkins when it comes to skill or legacy. In terms of greatness the two biggest names on Haglers hit list would probably be Duran and Hearns. Both naturally smaller guys and only one of them was by a stoppage, the nature of which Hopkins WOULD NOT accommodate...
Tenacity has never been Hopkins' thing. He's more of a picking, probing technician. If the time comes to pull the trigger he'll pull it. If it doesn't, he won't. It wouldn't come against Hagler, but I still see Hopkins getting the better of the exchanges.
I expect you'll disagree, but the one thing I don't see is Hagler scoring a KO.

Yeah good comments. When Hagler went to war, he demolished his opponents. When he tried to be a stylist, or score points, sometimes he looked less impressive.

The thing is, Bernard's big mouth would be his undoing. Pre-fight he would trash talk, that would make Hagler mad, make him want to mess Bernard up. Hagler would be aggressive all fight, and has the skills, power, aggression and conditioning to make it count. I could even see Marvin stopping Bernard eventually, albeit by attrition.

I don't think Bhops would trash talk Marv, I guess I'm basing that on some of his recent comments.

    I think Bernard wouldn't for 2 reason's.

1, being Bernard is great at the Physch game, and wouldn't think that would be a positive to trash talk Marv before the fight. So he wouldn't just for the reasons you mentioned in your post. I think Bernard is too smart for that, and would keep his beek closed. And do nothing but the opposite, and lavish praise on Marvin. Bernards no dummy.

2, Also I do think he respects him, but secondary to 1.

I'm waiting for Robbi's disclosure, on what he see's and why.

I think it would be prudent to try to analyze how Bhops would do against Haglers challengers, and vice versa also.

Bhop doesnt like going 12 rounds, i think Haglers ecperience in going that lil bit extra distance will help, Hagler stops him within the distance in a 25 round fight, id expect him to behind on the cards though...

I'd lean toward Hopkins via very late TKO in a 25 round match. In the end, I just think Hagler throws more punches, and harder punches.
