Hi everyone. First of all, I must apologize if this thread has been done before. Everyone has their opinion on who beat who regarding Calzaghe vs Hopkins. I don't believe either man did enough to win decisively but Calzaghe gets my immediate vote for his aggression.

Even though Hopkins lost the decision, he can still fight at a high level and proved that by landing some serious shots against Calzaghe and downing him early in the fight.

A rematch with Calzaghe would be a fair and smart move, because Hopkins was never dominated at anytime in the fight. However, I think Hopkins vs Jones II is long overdue and would be a good fight if one appreciates tactical boxing. Both men are past their primes and it's not as if I'm expecting greatness out of these two.

When Leonard and Hearns fought for the second time, neither man was in their best condition but that fight was highly memorable. In fact, I still have Hearns winning that fight by a minimum of two points, although the fight was scored a draw. I think Hopkins vs Jones II would provide the same type of entertainment value, knowing the history of these two fighters. More importantly, Hopkins was beaten the first time against Jones but he wasn't dominated.

I'd take Jones. Jones' has adopted his style to an older mans body in his last three fights and has looked (imo) impressive. When he was losing to Tarver and Johnson he was still fighting like young Roy and it wasnt working. Its weird to see him fighting like Winky Wright but its has given him another couple of years. Hopkins on the other hand is fighting higher calibre guys in WInky and Calzaghe but just looking awful.

I'm also in the camp that says Hopkins never wanted to re-match Roy. :hat

I'd pay for it too. If Hopkins can put in a performance at the level that he did against Calzaghe, he can win it. But unfortunately i don't think he will be able to.

Why? They both fought in prime age and it was a domination by Roy with a hurt hand. I love Hopkins. He is one of my favorite fighters...but he isn't even in the same league as Roy.
