Hopkins vs. Kessler

Hopkins for me, I can't believe the voting has it that clear for Kessler. :-(

 

Kessler has the jab and right hand to keep Hopkins defensive, pretty much like Taylor had him. Only Kessler has better stamina and variety behind the jab than Taylor had.

but... a lateral Calzaghe can only manage a contentious SD (which some thought he lost), and Pavlik gets schooled. This Kessler guy must be damn good...

Hopkins is an absolute expert at circling the jab... and removing it.

 

Why didn't he take away Taylor's jab then?

Kessler wins this with his jab and workrate.

 

Pavlik was there for the taking though, he is still too green for the elite like your Hopkins, Calzaghes of this world and Bernard saw this.

Calzaghe made the fight alot harder than he needed to by smothering his work, although Hopkins played a great part with his defense.

I just look back to the Taylor fights where he kept Hopkins on the back foot due to a powerful jab and straight right....two things that are Kesslers greatest weapons.

Dont get me wrong its a toss up fight, and i wouldnt be surprised if Hopkins wins...if they fight....but im rooting for Kessler

 

Calzaghe won 8-4 and 9-3 on the cards of the two competent American judges who scored this.

Kessler is close to as good and hits harder.

I would give Bernard great credit if he goes the 12.

(Mind you, Kessler is nowhwere near as accomplished as Bernard, but he's too much for the present Bernard. Kessler is not Pavlik)
