If Hopkins beats Stevenson, could the Hopkins v Kovalev fight be made? I'm a little confused about all the politics and barriers in boxing. Could this fight be made realistically?

Showtime had no interest in broadcasting Hopkins vs Kovalev during Kovalev's brief stint as IBF mandatory.
Showtime jumped all over showing Hopkins defend against Karo Murat for some reason:)rofl), even though Kovalev had fought on TV in the US and Murat had not.
I wonder how Murat got his paperwork to get into the U.S. sorted out so quickly?:think

Hopkins refused to fight Kovalev when Kovalev was Hopkin's mandatory. Stevenson ran to Showtime rather than live up to his agreement with HBO to fight Kovalev. Nobody wants to fight Kovalev and Ward says he is too big for him while asking smaller fighters to come up. Hey, Stevenson said he would fight SOB Ward at 168 if needed, but Ward refused to answer him............

Of course not. Hopkins has made a career based on trying to avoid risky fights, he won't take the worst fight possible at this age.

Yes it's definitely possible. However, Kovalev needs to score some decent victories rather than bitching from long distance. You can't and won't get a major fight if your biggest win remains to be Cleverly.

Oh dear, this nonsense again. He made a career avoiding risky fights?, do you know that he's 51 years old and unifying a division in one of the most dangerous fights in the world?. You ought to be lucky if you're alive at 51.

Moving up two weight divisions to fight Tarver was a joke move right?, fighting Pavlik was a complete joke fight too, right?, how about Trinidad?, Pascal x2 in Canada?, Cloud?, Wright?, Taylor x2?, Joppy...etc

Ward never said KOvalev was too big for him.

He said more to the effect.....when the timing is right, he'd move to LHW, but he was waiting on potential fights at 168 to materialize.

And.....Stevenson was "SAYING" he'd fight Ward at 168, just before Ward fought Rodriguez.
What happened to Stevenson fighting Tommy O?

People are misinformed about Hopkins real resistance to engage and fight with Kovalev. It wouldn't be like walking the dog in the park but I doubt if Bernard is more aware of doing it with Kovalev than with Stevenson. It's all business. I would like to watch it after Stevenson-Hopkins. Good for Hopkins. Good for Kovalev. Good for us.
