Hopkins is like a modern-day Jack Johnson stylewise, but John David Jackson's smart enough to know those 50 year old ribs and arms won't like the body work Kovalev's going to be putting in.
Kovalev doesn't have the stuff incorporated or the cool additivs to fit in to bang Bernard's ribs and the way I remember old man river tricked, fouled and stole the show from J D Jackson, I see nothing J D Jackson can say to Sergey. True J D Jackson was in the Executioner/Alien corner up to very, very recently but we all know that exception taken to Bowie Fisher and in part to Brother Nazim, Bernard does his own thang. Leonard was done, washed up, prepared to say farewell minutes into a first Exchange in the second round and Terry took the fight knowing that he would come from SMW to LMW where he was so comfortable at. This is more like Tommy Hearns schooling previously undefeated Quicksilver Virgil Hill from North Dakota when Freddie Roach was also young.
1) kovalev is a conditioned athlete: i'm sure he can last 12 rounds just fine. 2) i didn't say hopkins wasn't extremely hard to hit, i said hopkins will be on borrowed time if/once kovalev starts landing.
Hopkins loves to dismantle aggressive fighters, that's a style he has successfully dominated his entire career and he dismantled HOF to ATG quality aggressive fighters. The only way I see Kovalev winning this fight is by forcing Hopkins to look old by smothering him and being all over him from the very start. If Hopkins is able to use his movement properly as he always has without showing signs of weariness from age then Kovalev loses by UD. I really can't see Kovalev beating a normal and healthy Hopkins purely based on styles. Kovalev offers absolutely nothing Hopkins hasn't experienced before.
Very true. The only way Kovalev takes over this fight is if Hopkins can't perform as he used to and is pretty much old(which he is regardless) and wide open for Kovalev' punches.
No your wrong. Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev hits harder then any of hopkins last opponents. remember trinidad was a ww going up to middleweight, never was a huge force at 160. Pavlik was alot more sloppy than kovalev is. Dawson hasnt got nerves and steel, nor did taylor both could of been out-fought. Pascal is wild has power and athletic but inconsitent and not in the same class as kovalev for punching power. De la Hoya was a skillful fighter but another ww going up to mw. Shumenov is a strong man, physically strong but a terrible boxer, a punchbag for likes off hopkins. Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev is a very strong man, atg punching power, the bigger man, has a nice jab, a nice varied attack, accuracy. good control of distancing and never really been outboxed thus far. Also he is a schooled fighter with a solid amateur back ground. the styles favour hopkins but its another opponent and no one opponent is the same. if you think shumenov, pavlik and murat are similar to your kovalev then your up for a suprise.
So if Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev dismantles hopkins its 49yr old getting old overnight :-( No if Sergey KRUSHER kovalev beats him he deserves every plaudits he gets given.
Kovalev's boxing ability and power will surprise Hopkins. He'll be the first guy to ko Hopkins in the pros.
Hopkins will SCHOOL him. Kov brings nothing that Bhop has not seen before. Kov has slow feet and fast feet is the key to beat Bhop.
Just out of curiosity, what HOF to ATG fighters that were close to prime and as big as he was did Bernard dismantle?
