Wouldve been a great fight at middle, very tough to call but I'm certain it would go the distance.

I'd maybe give Hopkins the slight edge due to his superior hand & foot speed & being naturally bigger but McCallum was better technically & threw better combinations & bodyshots.

Hopkins may be the most techincally sound fighter in the history of boxing. You sure about?

I don't think it would be pretty and I regularly sing the praises of The Body Snatcher.
But Bernard would have enough to win a real "trade" fight.

:good just look how he tapped winky and titos ass :smoke

Might not be as one sided as those fights but I'd struggle to see mike take more than 5 rounds

Hopkins by a fairly competitive but clear UD

I think Mike would have won by a close decision due to his punch output. Mike threw a lot of punches and would have been more active. I don't think either one would have hurt each other. Mike's activity wins this one.

I'm certain(just my opinion), I've watched a lot of both guys & McCallum was the superior technician

Mike was trained by Steward & Futch & has so many old-school tricks watching him is an education. The way he catches shots, turns & slips certain ways & throws counters, especially to the body is unparalled in the modern game. Mike didnt have fast hands or great power & he was a bit of a plodder but he was very smart & extremely skillful.

Winky was hardly past his best. He was on an epic winning streak Since 99 minus the draw to Taylor. Sure he wasn't in his physical prime but mentally, Ring IQ whys and as an overall fighter he was at his best. Fair enough comparing Trinidad to mike is pretty foolish but there's no doubt in my mind that B-Hop out boxes him but woukdnt completely school him

Mike McCallum wont be easy for any MW in history

But BHop knew how to use his physical advantages over smaller men, which is a skill within its own.

First thread I agree totally with the thread starter, very much even, excellent fight for students of the game and yes, slight edge for The Body Snatcher. Do you know that at a certain point they called Mike "The Professor" and Hopkins the same? That should tell us something.

Hopkins hardly "tapped" Winky's ass...A bloated Wright held his own pretty much the whole fight and in many rounds outlanded Nard IMO.

This is about as close a fight as you can get...Nard might be just be able to nudge it with his extra speed and guile..smothering a lot of McCallum's work.
It wouldn't be pretty...Hopkins would have to make it that way to get the win.

nah, Tommy got him, SRL would beat him (unlike when he lost to MMH) and The Body Snatcher (who is underrated and not talked about enough) would beat him @ 160.

@ 160 Winky would have gave Bhop all kinds of trouble.

You are basing that statement off of what? Oscar? Tito? Hahaha
