Hopkins has fought 8 guys that were ranked highly in the P4P status (top 10).

    Kelly Pavlik
    Joe Calzaghe
    Winky Wright
    Antonio Tarver
    Jermaine Taylor (twice)
    Oscar Dela hoya
    Felix Trinidad
    Royjones Junior

Hopkins was the underdog in all 8 fights except the Winky Wright one, where the odds were roughly even. Is there an other current boxers who's faced near enough P4P guys as hopkins? I so can you name the boxer and the people he fought:good

You can pick someone who's career is already over like Ray Leonard buh u have to name all the P4P guys he fought (in the top 10)

  2. Oscar DLH, fought trinidad, hopkins, jcchavez 2x, fernando vargas, when vargas was good, mosley 2x, whitaker, when Whitaker was 1# p4p, and Paq, and even throw in Mayorga who didn't have the talent as the others but was a threat because of his power..
De la hoya has fought the best fighters of the last 15 years, he lost to a lot of them but he still had the balls to get in the ring with them..

Hopkins is probably the best fighter of last generations and still going. Hopkins easily = ATG.

Hopkins was the underdog against Taylor?

seems weird to me since many of the Hopkins fans were looking past that fight as though it was a gimme win

I don't know this to be fact, but I would find it pretty hard to believe that JCC was ranked P4P when Oscar beat him. He seemed past it by then - at least the second time around.

I never considered Pavlik or Taylor top ten P4P, and Tarver is fairly borderline. Wright was not at the time Hopkins fought him.

Do you have a cite for DLH being favourite over Hopkins btw?

I agree, Hopkins is a legend, however, some of this is inaccurate. He was not the underdog v DLH or Taylor. Plus, neither DLH, Tarver nor Taylor were p4p ranked when he fought them (the latter only got a p4p ranking in the first place because he beat Hopkins). I share the general sentiment though, B-Hop= legend

    Was Taylor P4P???

    Pavlik was debatable too.

    And Tarver was?

Taylor became P4P after the first BHop fight I think....

Pavlik, well he was consensus top 10, even though he was clearly very limited.

Tarver, most certainly was. Still riding high off the Jones and Johnson wins.
