It wouldn't be the first time Pascal got underestimated. I remember people saying Chad would easily outbox him but that wasn't the case. Hopkins doesn't have the stamina to beat Pascal so he would have to make it into an ugly fight. He should've retired after beating Pavlik.

Trinidad? beating up a blow up Light welterweight was an exciting fight?
A plodding Pavlik? Martinez gave him a bigger whooping that Hopkins could ever manage.

That leaves us with Joppy and Mercado. 2 fights!!?! In 58 bouts!?!?
What the **** are you saying?:patsch

Pavlik never won a round against Hopkins whereas he won a few against Martinez. Again, how weren't those fights entertaining? Your lack of knowledge bothers me. BTW, he fought Mercado two times but I wouldn't expect you to know that you being ignorant and all.

Trying to be completely objective here, i see Hopkins showing his age in this one. He'll see the openings but won't be able to pull the trigger. His speed and reflexes will be diminished. It would be great if Hopkins pulls out another great shocker but i just think given Pascal's awkward style and most importantly, his hand speed, it will keep Hopkins weary and on the defense. And don't forget that Hopkins is a defensive minded fighter first and foremost. The only time he gets a little crazy is when he knows he's got someones number like Pavlik, Tarver, Winky, etc. Guys who lack the hand speed to catch Hopkins off guard. He can see and anticipate the punches coming. He won't against Pascal. Pascal fits more in the style of guys who gave Hopkins trouble because of his hand speed (Calzaghe, Jones, Taylor).

    Pascal ugly UD.

I gave the second RJJ fight and the Ornelas fight another look the other day and I forgot just how bad Hopkins looked. I was picking him, but after seeing him looking slower than ever, older on his feet, huffing and puffing to the finish line, and looking like he was having trouble pulling the trigger, I have to agree with your pick. It will be ugly, that's for sure.

Tell that to Dawson in the Nineth round when he almost got his head knocked for trowing a hard combo. Trust me he can counter punch. I'll give you he's no Floyd Mayweather...but he thinks and sets more traps then people who don't know much about him realize.

I won't lie I'm underestimating him. I don't think he's all he's hyped up to be. I think in a rematch Dawson beats him by a large margin if not KO and I think Hopkins UD's him. Experience and dirty boxing will get the win! :think

Pascal brings everything to the table that Soapy has problems dealing with. Speed, throwing punches from unorthodox angles, movement and explosiveness. Hop does fine with one dimensional plodders like Tito and Pavlik who rinse and repeat for 36 minutes with no plan B. Pascal also has a set of cajones and won’t be intimidated by Bernard in the least.

Hopkins by close decision or even a three way split draw decision since it's in Canada and for Pascal's sake.
