2 months away and they got nothing for an undercard. Most likely they are just going to throw a bunch of Canadien prospects on there. But is GBP serious about this? Didn't they learn their lesson from the BHop/RJJ II flop? Without a decent undercard this thing is sure to get less than 100,000 buys.
While we are definitely looking forward to this one (on regular), I can understand GBP putting it on PPV. It's an expensive match-up and not many casual US fans know Pascal or care about ol'Hopkins anymore, so instead of doing poor ratings on regular, GBP is trying to rip off the hardcore base to cover the expenses. Given Hopkins' non-ability to make negotiating compromises and Pascal being lazy, I don't see any other way making this fight this year but to raise the purses and put it on PPV. Joke of a PPV of course unless it gets a REALLY packed undercard, but it won't. At least the crown will be alive, and that is something nowadays.
This will be a cagey defensive fight to, most probably boring to the general casual. Its stuff like this that turns people off Boxing imo. Stack the undercard with top! prospects who are in tough if want it to be a success.
i read somewhere that Morales could be on the undercard! maybe Lemieux will be on it if we are lucky!
Showtime first wanted Green-Bika to be on the undercard. That shows that they are working on a decent undercard. P.S. I know, Green is ****, but to have the opportunity to see Bika dismantle him would have been great.
:goodLol, I like Hopkins but after the crap he pulled against Calzaghe & Jones in the rematch I don't want to see any more new fights from him. The exception would be if he puts on a clinic but I doubt it though it's possible.
This is rediculous. If Pascal/Dawson wasn't a PPV, than Pascal/Hopkins sure as hell shouldn't be a PPV.
