According to the site where boxing is the scene, preliminary talks have been taking place to discuss Hopkins Vs Pavlik.

    Any thoughts?

I don't see this being made, surely Pavlik should clear out middleweight now that the Calzaghe fight has been mooted?

Cant see this being very realistic - would they have to fight at 175 ??

However it is a fight i'd love to see.

If it comes off you will finally see Hopkins hit the canvas. Being a Hopkins fan I truly dont want to see him KO'd by the ghost.

I can't see how Hopkins could keep up with the pace, even if he didn't hit the canvas.

Hopkins dropped by Pavlik - I just don't see it. BHops defense is something else. If Pavlik was to beat Hopkins - it would be by outworking him - but he's not going to beat Hopkins down. Just think about it - who's beat Hopkins down? NOBODY!!!!! :fire

If true I can see Bernard coming down to at least 168 for a fight with Pavlik.
Why is it that Boxing fans don't want to see this fight?
(or any fight's involving named vet's, like Jones jr. ect..)

is it because Hopkins is old, and a win does nothing for Pavlik?
Or because if Hopkins can defeat Kelly it would kill his rise?

I say why not, an unofficial changing of the guards.
(We all know Bernard ain't gonna stop until he is stopped that's the bottomline.)
if boxing want's B-Hop to retire, then send him a fighter that can Knock him out.

I hope Hopkins doesn't do it.

He needs an easy fight and then retirement. He's messing with his legacy fighting at his age.

    Pavlik wins and wins big.

Unlike Taylor, Pavlik has the juice to go a full 12 throwing those punches. As someone else said last week he is effortless with his power.

Taylor showed that youth, determination and some skill can trouble the old BHops of today. Pavlik, while not as fast as Taylor, has the fundamental requirements AND a long jab that if kept pumping will keep BHops honest.

It'll be interesting to see how Pavlik handles BHops constant backing up. But we all know that BHops strategy is to back up and look for counter right opportunities. He'll also probably keep his head low and ready to charge in at times to avoid Pavlik's right hand. Pavlik's jab will be key in this.
