Do you realize in your one long ass run on sentence you say both Pavlik shoud not and should face Hopkins? atsch
haha, that might have been confusin i meant after facin one of the other mw champs then pavlik should consider fighting a hopkins type, not right after facin a gary lockett...
You cant judge a fight on compubox numbers.... Thats why the judges arent allowed to see it when they are scoring a fight.:yep
If you ask Pavlik, he got lazy in the first round and let Lockett hit him once. I love to see compubox stats claiming 10 "powershots" by one fighter in a round and wonder how they come up with that. No one went down, seemed hurt. And that was just the first round when the guys were feeling each other out. :rofl
I wonder if Pavlik will face next either Felix Sturm or Arthur Abraham if he fights to unite the middleweight division. Once he does that, he should then take the likes of Calzaghe and Hopkins.
Not much happenin at 160, unless abraham beats the panther then Kelly vs Arthur is a hot ticket. I'd much rather see KP move to 168 and take on Andrade, Froch or Kessler and then one of the tittle holders bute or JC, prefferably JC.
Have you seen (on the scene for boxing) that Loew is calling Calzaghe chicken for not facing Pavlik? Anyone think this fight (Calzaghe V Pavlik) really might happen? The war of words, the similar opponents (possibly if Pavlik Hopkins happens). In an ideal world Calzaghe fights Jones whilst Pavlik fights Hopkins or unifies with Abraham. Then Calzaghe Pavlik early next year. I'd like to see Calzaghe fight Pavlik a lot sooner because I wasn't that impressed with joe's performance against Bernard. But I'll withold judgement till after the Jones fight so we can see if it was Bernard's mastery that made him look bad or the fact he has slowed down.
With Calzaghe out of the picture, Loew thinks Pavliks next bout will be in Cleveland in September, possibly against Ricardo Mayorga.
Sturm has shown zero interest in facing Arthur Abraham for a unification fight. He's got even less interest in Pavlik. The only way Pavlik faces Sturm is if he forces his way as Sturm's mandatory possibly by facing Sebastian Slyvester. And I just don't see Slyvester risking his #1 Contender status ( which he will be after the Sturm-Griffin rematch ) to face Pavlik. Abraham does seem to have gained a little legacy hunting hunger but he's going to be bogged down by a mandatory after the Miranda fight and isn't available til next year. That said I don't see a Hopkins-Pavlik fight happening. Pavlik likely won't jump all the way to 175 unless he's willing to abandon the MW division entirely. Hopkins would need to go down to 168. Even then I don't see Pavlik fighting at 168 for while except for a shot at a SMW belt.
Someone hinted my prediction that Mundine was offered a shot at Sturm to step aside for Kessler. Claimed Munine/Sturm are 'in talks'. But, lets see if Sturm can make/fight at MW.
No way is pavlik stopping hopkins, hopkins by UD as much as id want pavlik to win. Even at this stage in hopkins' career i dont think there is many people out there to beat him, i actually thought he looked his best for years in the calzaghe fight! Pav - mayorga would be a 2 round WAR imo, toss a coin for who's still standing as i think mayorga would go ALL OUT for victory early.
