I love Hopkins but father time has caught up to him. I see Pavlik UD. Pavlik is relentless. He just comes forward and keeps throwing. The pace would simply be too much. Yeah, Hopkins barely lost to the more talented Calzaghe who also has a great work rate but Calzaghe lacks pop. And Pavlik has pop. And Hopkins knows this and he will have to respect Pavlik's power. That's basically going to keep him in a shell as was the case when Hopkins fought Taylor. But this time, he has no stamina to come on strong in the later rounds.
I really don't wanna talk about any more potential Hopkins fights. That ****er should retire right now ASAP.
Pavlik would win this by a wide UD or a late TKO. I'm amazed by how many posters still underestimate Pav. On ESB he loses pretty much every fantasy much up according to many.atsch In real life he loses to everybody except the guys he fights:hey
Pavlik it too active for Hopkins plus he knows how to use his range, Hopkins only has one chance in this fight to win and that is to stay inside and run off combonations, in both fights with Taylor Pavlik could not seem to match the combonation work on the inside with Taylor he just didnt seem to have it, BUT, Hopkins is old and that will have an effect on him in the fight especially against a guy who can punch. I think its safe to say this fight isnt going to happen.
I agree, I don't know what he has to do prove to everyone that he is on of the top fighters. I have to keep saying it but he beat the number one contender Miranda (who only lost once to another champ) and the undisputed, undefeated best middleweight in the world at the time Taylor twice. And B Hop couldn't beat Taylor in two tries, whereas Pavlik dominated him. Although everyone says Pavlik is slow (which he really isn't) his work rate is among the best of any middle weight, he regularly is way above average on punches per round. B Hop faded after four rounds against Calzaghes relentless pressure. Pavlik would do the same thing, walk him down and keep the pace at a high tempo. Bernard will stop throwing punches after a few rounds just like his last fight. Anyone picking Hopkins on this isn't thinking it over long enough.
I'm astounded with the Pavlik domination of the poll...it's a styles nightmare for Pavlik. The only way for him to win is to blast through, and I don't think the odds favour it over 12. Hopkins 116-112.
The Ghost by homicide. BHOP wants no part of a young fighter with Pavlik's pop. Calzaghe wore out Hopkins, Pavlik would seriously hurt him.
