its guna be a great fight and very competitive. b hop at 50 still cant be knocked out . and is gunna fight a way smarter fight then he did vs murat. hes gunna be a defensive guru in there n score plenty of pts. fights gunna go to the championship rds for sure. only reason its close is cuz hopkins is 50
oh yeah its gunna be exciting. ever sense hopkins gotten older his fights been good. ever sense the pascal fights they have been good. well the dawson fights were bad especially the first one. but sense hes gotten way older the fights been competitive which competitive are usually exciting.
I try not to bash fighters unlike most on this board but Shumenov is awful. His skillset isn't anywhere near sharp enough to prevent the whipping he's got coming. Hops by KO.
Hopkins has the in Washington, DC, where he owns the judges, referee and the boxing commission....................This is a set up to cheat Shumenov. Hopkins will lose the fight, but his judges and referee will make sure he wins, by hook or by crook................Remember the Peterson fight?
Beating Murat doesn't really tell us very much as he really isn't very good (to put it mildly) and had Zero business getting a title shot. However whilst possibly a little better than Murat, Shumenov is also not very good and in the 4 years since his robbery title win against Campillo has not fought a single meaningful opponent. Shumenov seems pretty strong, but is flat-footed, predictable and appears to have the ring IQ of cement. Unless BHop has got very old, very quickly, I think he should be able to neutralise Beibut relatively easily to grind out a solid points win. That said, I do have to wonder just where Hopkins is at, and how much he has left. I'll probably never bet against him cos his achievements continue to amaze, but his last good win (with apologies to Tavoris Cloud who'd had the snot boxed outta him by Campillo in his previous fight) was Pascal 3 years ago. Clearly Hopkins has enough left for the Murats of the world (who Cleverly also beat convincingly and stopped - though debateably IMO) and also, I'm sure, the likes of Shumenov - but Stevenson or Kovalev? I ain't so sure.
old man has proved me wrong that last 3 times i went against him.... i just dont see a guy with a handfull of fights beating even a 49 year old hopkins...
Peter Quillin fighting for the WBO title on the under card says he has taken advantage of this opportunity by getting close to Hopkins and learning from him how to perform in and out of the ring. Quillin is facing tough journeyman, 50-4 Lukas Konecny.
First time I saw the ***** in Hopkins was in the Joe fight the second time was in the Dawson fight Sergey would finish this cherry picking racist old fart
You missed the first Robert Allen fight. Credit to Hopkins he did stop Allen in the rematch. I will laugh hysterically if Shumenov somehow manages to KO Hopkins. It is his only chance because the network is counting on Hopkins/Stevenson. Not unlike when Sturm got shafted against Oscar because the fight with Hopkins was all but made and the network was not letting Sturm screw it up.
