Hopkins would use his superior footwork and ring generalship to outbox Toney in a boring fight. Not as impressivly as Jones did but still very clear.
It may have been boring but honestly, prime for prime, middleweight bout, it's one of the biggest shames this match-up didn't take place.
Toney is the more skilled of the 2, Hopkins the better conditioned rangier man. I think it would be close but Toney's smarter/slicker skills edging it
This is truly a tossup. I think if I had to get of the fence I would favor Toney but that A young Hopkins is just too crude and wouldnt be able to land much against Toney, an older Hopkins is just too inactive
Hopkins has nowhere near the range of skills Toney has, his defensive and offensive techniques arent as suttle or sharp. Toney has more skill, Hopkins works harder at implementing the less varied skills he does have. Hopkins trains his ass off to get his wins where as Toney spars a bit and shows up and wins on skill alone 1 thing Hops has over TOney is he isnt flatfooted, this is mainly due to Toney being a lazy ****er.
It's almost like you are totally blind to your favourite fighter's shorcomings. Hopkins is complete. A complete technician. His skillset is complete. You could drive a bus through the hole in Toney's range of teqchniques. It's Hopkins, by distance.
What it is, is, I know boxing and you dont, you probably never boxed Hops is 1 of my faves too, he does plenty better than Toney, but in terms of raw skill Toney pisses it
Thats an awesome picture in your avatar, wonder if theres a video to go along with that picture? I dont know about a bus, maybe a volkswagen beetle. There both comparable in completeness, but B-Hop's consistency is definitely a huge factor in this one. Best for best, I would lean towards Toney.
This is the second time you've said that to me. I'm used to running into it as the last-grasp scrabble for face on the General forum, but you're the only guy i've seen use it in Classic. Yes, i've boxed. I've also helped organise unliscenced boxing, worked some corners and refereed boxing. Relevance; none. What the **** is "raw skill" now?
