Hopkins vs Tylor I, question

those four landed punches each round from 1-6 sure mustve impressed you. or maybe it was the 15 thrown punches each round.

 

I gave Hopkins 2 of the first 8 rounds, and the last four (from memory). Definately had the first fight a draw.

Also, I scored the 2nd fight a clear 115-113 for Taylor. The question in this fight was: Would Hops start faster, or Taylor end better? Well Hops did much of the same, and Taylor did better in the later rounds than in the first fight.

I must say, these fights weren't exactly "exciting". But because of the controversy, perhaps I should go back over them. Only rewatched both once, and both times came back with the same result.

For me, that's 1-0-1 for Taylor... Although I have no problem with people shouting robbery for Hopkins. They were close, and its arguable Hopkins did the most damage. However, i agree with Emmanuel Steward. While Hops proved he was clearly the best fighter (and would maul taylor prime for prime), he started his runs too late, and Taylor built up too big of a points lead...

Although, if it's a draw in the first fight, and Hops loses the 2nd, then there woulda been a third (cause of a rematch clause)... I think we ALL won on that one.

So your obviously one of those guys that thinks a 7-5 fight that could be argued a draw is a robbery?

Not saying that's wrong, just making an obvservation. There was a thread on here a little while ago asking the exact same question: Can a 7-5 type fight be a robbery, if fighter A clearly wins 7 rounds...

On another side note, what 7 rounds did Hopkins win in that fight, let alone clearly?

I had the exact same cards. I'll admit the first was a lot closer but Hopkins just didn't do enough to win. Like Hagler, these men either started too late or remained too passive throughout the fight.

Hopkins felt the speed and power Taylor brought with his youth. He didn't engage as much because he knew better. Too many risk in exchanges would have led to Hopkins getting hurt or caught off balance.
