Great point. I love BHop, but his body looks better and bigger now than it ever has. I'm not down on him for this, many of the guys these days are doing stuff, but I think you're on to something here.
Hopkins vs Adamek would be a great fight. geppy, interesting comments, I thought the same things about Randy Couture.
I'm with you - I respect what Hopkins has achieved in the ring but not necessarily his mouth flapping outside of it (call it fight hyping or whatever you want). Peace. To give Hopkins some credit though - as BigReg and others point out - he never actually said the quotes attributed to him in this thread. There is now a line following the article on the boxing confidential that claims the article is 'purely satirical'. I'm not sure it was there when I read it first... Either way, happy to eat some crow for missing the irony...
He's been taking care of his body since he got locked up as a teen. No drinking, no smoking, nothing bad into his body for 25+ years. He's been eating right and staying physically fit. How many people do you know in your life that were able to stay this disciplined?
I do not feel Hopkins is a cheater, even if I think he may be doing testosterone or HGH. He may be taking such supplements in acceptable doses (particularly testosterone/test boosters), and even if he isn't, the stuff is so widespread today as to almost be a given and/or have a 'level playing field' for any athlete who wants to participate in taking supplements. As Klion said, BHop has taken great care of himself for a long, long time. He just may have finally put that training together with some good, scientifically-based and legal supplementation now at this later stage of his career. Whatever he's doing, he looks great. He looked as jacked as I've ever seen him in the Pavlik 24/7 show. Good for him.
He also trains 365 days a year. The man is in fantastic shape. A modern day Archie Moore, if ever there was one.
So you think Calzaghe would be a better matchup for Adamek and Dawson would be a better matchup for BHop?atsch:-( I think you're completely wrong on this. First off, Adamek can't handle speed, which was evident in his loss to Dawson at 175. Of the 3 fighter, BHop would be his best chance at a win. BHop's punches are much faster than Adamek's, but I'm not convinced his 44 yr old legs have enough to keep him away from Adamek for 12 rds. I would still favor BHop. Adamek's only chance is his power and KO'ing him, which is highly unlikely. Adamek's like a bigger version of Pavlik, just as slow, throws half as many punches, and is even more telegraphed and predictable. Calzaghe and Dawson would box circles around both Adamek and BHop, unless BHop holds and fouls.
not one person flat out picked Adamek in this, ESB is getting wiser. Hopkins by UD 118-110 118-110 119-109
