Hopkins wants Danny Green at CW - "We are in negotiations"

I know that people cop flak for saying what you are saying, but I think it kinda makes sense.

The WBA has become a farce. The WBC seems intent on joining them. If it wasn't for history then most people would agree. Right now, the different titles seem to be ranked in credibility as follows:

1st: Ring belt

2nd: IBF and WBC (WBC trying to lost this spot)

3rd: WBA, WBO, IBO

My personal hope is that the standard held by the Ring's rankings would be the least standard that all the sanctioning bodies should hold to.
But what's the chances of that happening? :twisted:

 

It would be stupid for him to fight Dawson. Dawson needs that fight more than Hopkins. The only thing Hopkins would have to gain fighting Dawson is a loss on his record because Dawson has less of a fanbase than Danny Green so it wont be about money. If It's about legacy then Bute would be a good fight, but why not take Greens IBO title? If Green is an easy win he should take it.

 

Hopkins doesnt need this one. get the big paydays and get out.

 

Hopkins isn't a big a puncher as Green, therefore I think this old Roy will stand more of a chance against Hopkins than he did against Green.

I think Hopkins will win a decision if we did see the rematch, but I'd love RJ to prove me wrong.

Fair enough this guy stopped RJ in what some said was a premature stoppage, but Hopkins V Green would be boring IMO. Jones V Hopkins would still generate large viewers than Hopkins Green IMO

 

To be honest it would be a fun fight to watch. Green could pull it off if Hopkins suddenly slips.

But really, I'd like to see him face Dawson.

 

At least is a better name than Ornelas. Hopkins do not nned more challenge He only need a few more bucks so He can live well on retirement. Dawson and Bute do not bring enough money so a fight with Green, good money less risk and a solid name no great in his resume would be good for him at this stage. I think the only good fights for Hopkins to make a good name in his resume and a good payday are Adamek and Green or go up and make money participating in a circus act by beating Valuev.

 

I'd still rather see him fight Dawson, but this fight does make sence now that Green KO'd Jones.

Yeah same here. I wouldn't mind watching him fight Danny Green, and put him in his place. Would push for a Dawson/Bute fight after though.

You all severely underestimate Danny Green and I hope Hopkins does the same because we will have another Green - Jones spectacle . I am an australian / new zealander so I am biased but Green has been a very good fighter . He had weight issues at super middle which caused his bad showings v Beyer in their rematch and his fight with Mundine however his first fight with Beyer , his demoltion of Eric Lucas in Canada aswell as other good wins show's his quality . Of course Hopkins is a legend and I personally think would be a chance to decision Danny if he's at the top of his post prime best but Green would have a good chance also .

 

Its quite clear hopkins was really hoping to avenge his loss to jones....so he goes for the next best thing to knock jones....fight danny green....

I don't want to see this...he should fight dawson, or go to heavyweight and try and win haye's belt...
