He'll put on a special performance against Haye alright. The acting job he'll put on to win the title via DQ will have Johnny Depp and Daniel Day-Lewis in tears.

I thought the first fight Hopkins looked like garbage half way through the first fight and then picked it up too late. I had the first 7 rounds to 5 for Taylor, the second fight I had 7 rounds to 5 for Hopkins.

I feel this is all an act, and Hopkins thought RJJ was perfect to do it against. Hopkins wants his next oppenent to think he's as shot as Jones, then shock the world again when he beats the big betting favorite. Again increasing his legacy in the process.

Yeah its very interesting to note that this is a fight that Hopkins has been wanting for a very long time know. But the thing is David HAys and his poeple are much smarter then Kelly Pavlik. David think's about his career, how to sell himself to the public, who to fight, and how to fight them as much as Hopkins does. More over David Haye has already shown a propensity to do whatever it takes to get an advantage in the mind games department. Haye understands mind games, will probably try to play some of his own and will be much less apt to be swayed by them. Basically, I can't see David taking this fight unless he knows he's ABSOLUTELY not going to get made a fool of by a the vertarn hopkins.

Haye is a counter puncher and Hopkins thinks that his game is tight enough to be able to run Haye and keep him on the back foot. He figures with the way he keeps his chin tucked and barles in with his head there is be nothing for Haye to counter. He thinks he can turn him and hit him with the overhand right before he's got the chance to set himself (becaues david Haye does have to set himself to unload his shots). Problem being that Haye isn't an idiot and I suspect that if he took this fight it would be with the intent of punishing the **** out of B-Hop's body...to a point where Hopkins starts seriously reconsidering his wish to take the fight.

You know what? minus the theatrics and what not I found that fight more watchable than Haye-Ruiz.

I have no idea what you are basing that on. But I do agree they were both watchable fights.

    Good post.

Haye would be too big, too strong and less in awe of Hopkins than he would think.
Haye is after the biggest prize in boxing. B Hop is a distraction of his own making.

 We shall see. I really do believe this was yet again another Hopkins act, just to get his next oppenent to drop there guard a bit and underestimate the crafty veteran. When Leon beat Ali, what did everyone say? Ali would return to claim his belt and yet again increase his already stellar legacy.

Sometimes defeat or looking bad can improve a fighters legacy or least make the comeback look a little more special.

I agree with you again and in Hopkins' sick mind this doesn't seem like a bad idea but even Hopkins had Taylor hurt he just sucked at finishing him. I had the 7-12 arguably for Hopkins and thought he landed the more effective punches in the first fight and thought the second could've gone either way but JT was more effective in the rematch than in the first fight. Don't feel like getting my scorecard but that's how I saw it. I hope he retires after tonight unless he shocks the world and beats Dawson. Moving up in weight at 45 isn't smart and as much as people diss Hopkins tonight they'd feel pity for him as soon as he's visibly shot like RJJ.

You may be right. Though with the Supermiddleweight division heating up, it's not like Hopkins would run out of any possible oppenents anytime soon. I could see him taking on an Abraham or Froch, and you know what. He would win too.

I truly believe that David Haye is too focussed to underestimate any opponent now. Even if this fight did happen and even IF Hopkins was playacting, I just can't see Haye allowing him to get away with his shenanigans.

He wouldn't feel the need to respect the legend, he would be more concerned with his own legacy.
