Why not? Hopkins barely throws punches anymore. He just plods around, throwing one shot at a time, then grapples and fouls. In B-Hop's prime he beats Pavlik, but not now. Pavlik will kick his ass, please explain to me how Hopkins will win.

Because Pavlik is taller, rangier, younger, has a long stiff jab, and enough power to make Hopkins tentative. Hopkins is a shot old man who throws one punch at a time, and is afraid to take chances, and that wont beat Pavlik.

You gotta be ****in kiddin me. I've always been a big Hopkins fan, but I cant see why people still believe in him. He's adopted a terrible style in the last 4 years, but that style of "stink" wont work against Pavlik's ultra aggressive and busy style.

Pavlik will win a close, boring UD based on workrate. Hopkins is too slippery and cheap to get beat clearly. So of course he will complain about the decision for months even though he'll throw 10 punches around and stop fighting once he believes he is winning.

So If Hopkins beats Pavlik, does that make all the "Pavlik is a GOD, Calzaghe is crap" null and void???

I only see Pavlik beating Hopkins if B-Hop tires during the fight, which he has been doing recently, and is of course expected of a man in his mid-40's. However, Hopkins still has the chin to take whatever Pavlik can land at 170lbs. Hopkins could slip Pavlik's shots, which are often predictable, and counter with his own. He can make Pavlik follow him around the ring (again, if he doesn't tire) and make him become one-dimensional. I'd have to go with Hopkins by a close but clear UD in a rather boring fight. Respect to both fighters though, to Hopkins for taking on an unbeaten, brutal-punching P4P fighter in his prime, and to Pavlik for taking on Hopkins, who makes everyone look bad, and who has a serious chance of beating him, something that would be a little embarassing considering Hopkins' age.

Pavlik is tall and will use his reach well. He is too active for Hopkins. Pavlik is a thinker despite how he looks and what people think. Pavliks activity and power will make X keep his hands at home. X will then complain that Pavlik didn't land etc and the people know he won.

I felt Calzaghe beat Hopkins, but Pavlik has a better chance against Calzaghe than Hopkins. Calzaghe is easier to hit than B-Hop, and isn't on the same level as a tactician, and he also doesn't have the same level of footwork as Hopkins, and probably not as solid a chin as Hopkins. I'd pick Calzaghe over Pavlik, but he'd be landing more in that fight than he would against Hopkins, who could frustrate Pavlik a lot easier than Calzaghe could. Styles make fights, and fighting Calzaghe is a smarter move for Pavlik than fighting Hopkins.
