From the site that talks about boxing...

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has informed Boxingtalk that Frank Warren's Sports Network has gotten world super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe's signature on a contract to fight world light heeavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins on April 19, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The exciting news is that Hopkins-Calzaghe will not take place on HBO Pay-Per-View but instead will be a special presentation of HBO World Championship Boxing. This will allow Joe Calzaghe maximum exposure in his United States debut and reward Hopkins fans who have had to purchase most of his recent fights on pay-per-view. Schaefer will soon leave for Mexico to inspect at Azteca Sadium as a possible site of Oscar De La Hoya's May 3rd fight.

It says Calzaghe has signed the contact. Has Hopkins signed it? :think

-Nice to see it's regular PPV. Looks like Golden Boy Promotions is starting to make non-PPV events...Calzaghe-Hopkins and also Oscar's next fight.

-Nice to see it's in April, in 3 months, and not in July or August.

-The winner, which I think will be Calzaghe, will fight Roy Jones.

    A 1 sided massacre won't be worth PPV.:yep

Anyway, the PPV likely wouldn't make the right numbers due to the fact that no casual fan here cares about Joe. But this is a plus for us hardcore fans, definitely.

why not? rjj has been briming with confidence lately, and calzaghe won't pass-up an opportunity to add another high profile scalp to his resume.

And you guys hate Oscar so much
I think he is good for the sport. Maybe not fighting but definately the top promoter in my mind. If this all pans out to be true 2008 will be a great year for boxing.

    Told'ya it's gonna happen.

No PPV this time? Great news. Maybe that's something GBP gives us to deal with the DLH-Floyd rematch.

Or they just want us to keep our money until september. :D

Because it's useless in his resume to the long run, Roy is shot. Beating Trinidad, even having to pace yourself at times at 170 is not any notion that someone is one of the best in the division.

Indeed. Joe wants well-payed resume trophee wins (i.e. legendary NAMES) for a lot of money (high reward, low risk, to tart his resume with.) I can see him taking on RJJ in Cardiff after Bhops, instead of Woods, or before Woods. The average Joe will come and see it.
