I've been going through this rematch in my head, and the only logical decision I can come up with is that once Chad starts beating him to the punch and starts winning rounds convincingly, Bernard will once again find a way out of the fight. I have no doubts Chad is going to go in there and punish him. I do have doubts Bernard will be a man and try and finish the fight though. He's shown so much ***** ass tendencies in past fights that I expect to see it once again in the rematch.
Like he did vs pascal when he was dropped two times or vs mercado? Hopkins might not win but he will not quit, he will make it close like always.
Nah man, he is a great boxer that shouldnt even be fighting at his age, but he is still game. I hated the first dawson fight as much as everyone but in general hopkins is pretty awesome. I wish he retired after pascal 2, would have been perfect timing.
Dawson is all athleticism and a shaky chin. You shouldn't really read into compubox but he threw 900 punches and only landed 200 something against Glen Johnson. You really think he will land anything close to that against Hopkins ? And Johnson landed a mediocre right hand and Dawson was holding for dear life. Adamek landed a good right hand and Dawson was on his butt. He has good head movement but he keeps doing the same thing. He doesn't prepare himself for traps and there are a few who can set better traps then Hopkins. At the end of the day it will be 116-112 for Hopkins and Dawsons face will be busted up.
I think he knows, deep down, that he can not beat Dawson. I think Dawson is better than everyone at Light Heavy and would beat anyone coming up from Super Middle.
I see this fight as the final test of Hopkins. He has been handpicking most of his opponents - either their style suited him perfectly or they were smaller than him. Dawson is neither... so this fight will show what the real Hopkins is made of.
I do think there was a bit of "oh ****" going through Hopkins' head vs Dawson, but I don't think he quit because of it. He did exaggerate how hurt he was, though, imo.
