Firstly, I have been a long-time fan of Hopkins and have become a recent fan of Pavlik.

Ideally, as a fan, I'd prefer these two never fought.

After much deliberation, I have decided I am hoping the old man pulls it off, but I am hard-pressed to see how he can do so.

For starters, he is starting to show his age.

Beyond that, for Hopkins to win, he's going to have to make it an ugly fight wherein he wins just enough rounds to pull out a decision. NO WAY will he win a decision.

In 2 of his last 3 losses, strong arguments can be made that Hopkins was victorious, but this helps prove there is no way he is going to win, even if he deserves to win.

Barring the unlikely scenario whereby Hopkins wins inside the distance, I see no way for him to emerge victorious.

As long as he is still standing on his feet, Pavlik will win.

And make no mistake, Pavlik might well DESERVE to win in any case, and I even give him an outside chance at a stoppage victory.

However, I tend to believe it will be a closely fought encounter (either a draw or 7-5 either way) that will invariably go Pavlik's way on the judge's card.

    Pavlik will win.

But would love to see the old man pull off one more solid victory, as I am confident Pavlik will have a helluva a career one way or another.

I agree with this. A prime Hopkins beats Pavlik but not today's Hopkins.:good

Hopkins isn't going to win a UD unless it's so one-sided that the jkudges have no choice but to give it to him, and I do not see that happening.

Hopkins of Pre-2005 would probably beat Pavlik.

That being said, in 2008, Pavlik handles Hopkins.

i disagree.i am a fan of pavlik not bhop but believe this is the wrong fight for pavlik and i see him losing to hopkins.he should fight some one more to his style as hopkins will make him look bad as he did with many others.even some one as good as calzaghe looked bad against him.mark my words you will see him lose his (0) in this fight.

I agree the Hopkins that Calzaghe fought loses to Pavlik but the 2005 Hopkins, the Fight Night Rd 2 Cover Hopkins, beats Calzaghe and Pavlik

HBO will make sure Pavlik wins if it is a close won.
I cant see Hops winning decisively enough, Kelly just works to hard and Nard doesnt have the legs for elite level pace anymore.

I still think it will be a nightmare in there for Kelly.

    But Im probably wrong.
I love watching Pavlik fight, I think he is a really good fighter and he is one of my favourite boxing personalities, he seems like a cool guy and down to earth.
But I am "ye of little faith" when it comes to him. Against Zertuche, I thought he would win (like nearly everyone) but I had concerns about his chin, so in the back of my mind I thought an upset was possible.. WRONG

I gave him a 50-50 chance against Miranda, come fight time I reluctantly sided with Miranda because of his big fight experience and I still had reservations about Kelly's chin..WRONG again

Against Taylor the first time, I was convinced that against an elite fight with some boxing skill and a good jab Kelly would come undone. After all, his big wins had come against brawlers who suited his style. I was really wrong that time.

Even in the rematch I rated Kelly only a 50-50 chance, because I thought JT would fight a better tactical fight this time and it was shown Pavlik could be hurt. At least this time my prediction was a little closer but inevitably wrong.

I would love nothing more to be wrong again but I cant shake this feeling it will be a very tricky fight for Pav.

This is going to be yet another controversial hopkins fight as most of his recent fights have been. Hopkins will do some clever **** and make pavlikl miss a lot and all of his nuthuggers will think that makes him deserve the win despite him throwing less than 10 punches per round
