Its widely acknowledged that Bhops best win was against Trinidad and it was an excellent performance from Bernard.

Is it fair to say that in hindsight though that this was a performance that is hugely overated because of the following reasons

    - Trinidad was a career welterweight
    - Trinidad had already been knocked down 7 times as a welterweight
    - Trinidads win over Joppy at 160 was a convincing performance but being realistic, what are the best 5 wins of Joppys career?

Does the Hopkins performance also get put into a better perspective by judging how Winky Wright also dismantled Trinidad at 160?

would people expect tim bradley to move up to 160 and seriously challenge a big middleweight like chavez jnr?

No, it was a catalyst fight. An eye opener.

Bernard went from MW Champion to MW great in the eyes of both the general public and the Media.

Trinidad moved up because he was knocked down so many times as a welter.

However you want to call it , this fight and tournament was set up for Trinidad to win .

Don king was pissed off , I always like that about Bernard.

Dont think its Bailey , as he wouldnt have made the mistake about comparing Bradley and Trinidadas as natural welters.

Was it an even bigger eye opener when Winky beat Trinidad so convincingly considering Winky was a natural 154 fighter where as Hopkins started his career as a light heavyweight.

Yeah good point, put a natural welter in place of Bradley and then compare.

Was Hopkins 160 era that bad that he needed to beat a man who had been knocked down 7 times at 147 to gain some recognition?

Winky beat a Tito who had been away from the ring for years, before returning for a bar fight with the non to technical Ricardo Mayorga at 160. (Mayorga has never been a 160lb fighter, so if we go by your logic the win is invalid.)

Trinidad was seen as an unstoppable force. He blitzed WW, then smashed through JMW with the Vargas fight highlighting his percived power. Then he enters this MW tournament, it's seen as a set up. Don King is eyeing a Tito super fight with Roy Jones Junior. Trinidad destroys Joppy, establishing himself as a legit 160lb power puncher.

Tito was betting favourite over Hopkins, who was seen as old and on his way out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but that's a fact. Hopkins was not a young man in terms of fighters.

Hopkins domintates an undefeated and supremely confident Tito Trinidad against the odds.

    What's wrong with that?

No. Not at all, I don't care how easy Bernard made it look the fact is he was considered old even THEN, and he straight schooled him. It was a special win.

Do you in hindsight think it is a hugely overated victory though considering how Trinidad clearly couldn't live with Hopkins or trinidad at 160?

Why do you think the public and media underestimated Hopkins so badly before this fight that they were making him an underdog v a man who had been knocked down 7 times as a welterweight?

Do you you think the fact that Hopkins had lost to Clinton Mitchell and Jones clearly and then drew with Mercado played a big part in his underestimation?

Sorry as boxing fans today. I tell you. B-Hop went to PR to promote the fight at some stadium with Don, Tito and himself at the podium. Dumb ass lackadaisical Tito was just standing there like a fool waving his PR flag while B-Hop was talking **** to him. The crowd was cheering and everybody was happy. So B-Hop being the "G" that he is took the flag out of Tito's hand and threw that **** on the ground. Tito was in shock as well as everybody else in the stadium. Tito looks to the crowd while pointing at B-Hop with a "do something" look on his face then **** hit the fan. Just know that B-Hop ran into the crowd in the stadium and nobody did ****. Definitely a top 3 "OG" ATG move in the history of boxing. Let's not even bring up how B-Hop had to deal with 911 while he trained and on fight night B-Hop bet his purse on himself. What B-Hop did took more balls than what anybody has had to do in like the last 30 years of boxing. Real boxing fans know there's no lie in this post.
