It very well could be the worst era, but Eastman WAS a top fighter in it and that is a FACT you cannot change.

What you're missing about Hopkins greatness is his longevity to stay at the top. Its the same thing with Larry Holmes. Neither had a great era, but it takes a great fighter to stay focused day in and day out to remain champion for so long. When things come easy, that when people get lazy and upsets occur.

Props to Hopkins, a top 10 ATG middleweight!! :cheers

Being realistic, nobody ever whooped Joppy like that before or after. It showed that Trinidad was a legit middleweight. Hopkins in my opinion gave Trinidad a little too much respect. Who is to say that Hopkins didn't soften Trinidad up a little, and that Trinidad wasn't the same fighter after Hopkins? Also, Winky Wright would have beaten Trinidad the same way if they fought at 154. Winky Wright was one of the best boxers of his generation.

That's the thing... you don't get to use hindsight. What people thought at the time is what he should get credit for.

People do the same thing with Floyd's win over Chico. It's not fair to the fighters who had the balls to step up and fight when perceptions were high. You can say the same thing about Martinez beating Williams, but you have to give him credt because Williams was one of if not the most avoided fighter in recent memory.

    Hindsight "wisdom" is bull****.

it is vastly overrated yes because at the time people thought trinidad was invincible and he was coming of a good and impressive run with spectacular wins over vargas, reid and joppy then when hopkins won people overreacted.. hopkins should thank trinidad cause he has made a career ofg that win.. he is a boring fighter but because of that win he has made millions

    :hat

No rational fan thought Tito was invincible after the DLH robbery. But he did earn his spot. Fighting Hopkins by first drubbing Vargas and Reid, and than Joppy. Lets remember Trinidad was the star AT&T the time, Hopkins was just supposed to be another bump in the road to Roy Jones. So no, the win is not overrated.

I respect your hindsighted opinions on the matter but I highly doubt that anyone can reasonably call Bernard Hopkins dramatic/impressive victory over Felix Trinidad overrated just for the simple fact that it was "Tito" that was practically the overwhelming favorite to beat "The Executioner" and so much that Trinidad's own promoter Don King, who was also Hopkins' promoter at the time, bet a substantial pile of money on "Tito" and all but had a proposed impending primed PPV showdown between Trinidad vs Roy Jones Jr., set and ready for the following spring before everything went south with the "Executioner's" unforgettable and surprising win over the unbeaten and practically indestructable Trinidad.

Also let's not forget a true fact that some, especially Don King, will all but deny that an impending Trinidad victory was all but in the bag so much that the victory trophy for the fights winner, the Sugar Ray Robinson Trophy, even had Trinidad's name on it before the fight and was suppose to be presented to the winner immediately after the match but the actual winner, Hopkins, had to wait two days to receive his well deserved trophy because supposedly the trophy was locked in a private vault and no one in distance with a key could open it before that following Monday. But we all know what the real reason behind the suspected delay as far as the trophy not being presented the exact night of the fight to Hopkins was all about now don't we?

Exactly, you don't get to call a win overrated if you didn't think he would win in the first place.

    That's why:
