I love the way "ring generalship" always gets used by Hopkins fans when discussing this fight. Its as if it means their man doesn't have to throw or land punches just as long as he displays "ring generalship"....its a kop out because they know that calzaghe was busier, threw more punches, landed more punches and was the aggressor for the larger portion of the fight.

BHOP was the better fighter in there, no doubt. He landed the clean shots, the hurting shots.... Calzaghe was terrified after the 12th, he knew that he hadn't landed much...

But I still think Calzaghe won a close decision. Bhop only needed to be more active to win the fight, these days I don't think you can win a fight pot shotting, no matter how much more effective you are in the ring, if you are not active then you lose.

People that use the ring genralship card for Hopkins in that fight dont know what it means. The ring genral in a fight is the guy that controls the centre of the ring, controls the pace of the fight, controls distance and dictates the action. To argue that Hopkins did those things is utter rubbish... Joe was the ring general throughout the fight.

    Yup.

It was a close fight, but a clear win for Calzaghe.

The poll numbers of the thread the other day tell their own story.

Yes because all the people on this site can be relied upon to score a fight properly and give an accurate, unbiased opinion on it.

It would be reasonable to assume there as just as many accurate scorers that would have liked Calzaghe to win as there are for Hopkins, especially considering the haters involved on both sides. It all balances out.

Okay, its all a conspiracy to rig the polls.

The polls give a reasonable if not totally accurate reflection, because for as many fans as Calzaghe has (and he does have more than Bernard), he has just as many haters that would be likely to vote the other way rather than scoring objectively.

They give a general indication that most people thought Calzaghe won and you are in the small minority. That's how it is.

I wasn't arguing. I did, at least, post my entire round by round tab up unlike many others. Oh wait, I mean someone I used to know that posted on here did.

Some of you guys are real bozos, either you don't know how to score a boxing match, or you just followed HBO and the crowd reactions.

Watch the fight with no volume, and count in your head how many clean, meaningful punches landed per fighter. And consider whose punches had the greater effect at the end of the round.

And **** you overlord, spare me your **** comments.
