"Hopkins won't get KO'ed!" He sure won't; it wouldn't be that kind of stoppage!

    Don't worry, Calzaghe jumps on a tired/hurt opponent like a wild animal.:good

Had that ref not stepped in at round 8, Kessler would have been at least dropped because Calzaghe stunned him and was going after him hard.

I agree...Kessler would have been KDed or would have take a knee. The ref might interfere again...in fact, I will be surprised if he doesn't...

Despite the respected viewpoints to the contrary?

Calzaghe wont KO Hopkins:nono If Joe wins? He's winning a decision.
Since admittedly I'm rooting for hop's? I hope Joe goes for that KO:yep

I'm rooting for Hopkins, I believe he has a real chance. When 2 great fighters meet? That's what happens.

Obviously Hopkins has been out boxed RJJ and Taylor previously. Joe has the type of speed and skill that translates along those lines and is younger.

However? Hopkins looks stronger at 176 and showed against Wright that he can still make guys fight his fight.

Its close but it appears Joe's the favorite. I refuse to under estimate a man of Hopkins will and ability and am rooting for him to take Joe into uncharted waters:good

Even the stoppage by accumulation . . . I don't see that happening. It's very unlikely. If Bhops will lose, it's gonna be via decission not by stoppage.

The guy is very smart and a slick fighter, he never get's hit with combos. His opponents can hit him once but after that, he is either too far for the follow up or in his opponents face to tie him up. :yep

JC or Bhops by decission . . . and it's gonna be controversial. Believe me. :D

Yeah, he damages his hands punching the body, shoulders and the side of the head of Thornberry, and Ashira in three rounds and in seven against Lacy and fights through pain the rest of the rounds, and he's going to make Bernard quit on his stool... Sure, he will... R U kidding me, when was the last time you saw his opponents' heads being snapped back? Calzaghe doesn't have heavy punching muscles, he has fast punching, lean-long muscles - look at the way he puts em together, winds em up, punches wide, connects and gets out, doesn't discharge full power with his shots ( not even with a right lead or a left uppercut) so you expect Bernard to break solely based on discouragement and pride? Get outta here, not gonna happen...

You seem to forget that not only is Wright featherfisted at light heavy - he is also featherfisted at light MW/MW. Not only this he has a pretty low workrate also. No way he could win vs Hopkins, which is one of the reasons why he was chosen as Hopkins opponent.

Calzaghe is more like a Light HW that has trained himself down to SMW prior to fights.

Nonetheless, good luck with the fight, C Money.

Speed+technique-power=whiplike snap to the head. For 12 rounds, that about 950 whip lashes from all angles.

If both fighters have a average day at the office, Joe wins by UD. If both are on their best form, Calzaghe KO.

Im leaning more towards Calzaghe WIDE UD with hopkins winning 2-3 rounds more than i am to a late TKO. Its possible, but i think Hopkins is going to make it to the final bell. Hopkins may even score a flash knockdown, but even with that, it still won't be enough as Calzaghe is going to box circles round him.

    117-110 in favour of Calzaghe.

I agree that the safer pick is the wide UD, but I'm going to stick my neck out for the stoppage. We'll see!:D

I have to agree that Lacy was holding on by the 11th ( and he was knocked down in that round by a right jab which was wrongly not ruled) but basically Calzaghe was throwing from all angles and landing on shoulders, arms, gloves and head ( never snapping Lacy's head back) with an awkward technique, not sitting on any shot... Seems that he wants to keep em at bay with those fast short punches - right lead-left uppercut-right hook and turns to his right - he doesn't commit fully to bust em up with each and every shot... Consider the straight shots Collins threw at Eubank in Ireland, the heavy hooks and swings from Benn, the monster right uppercut from Eubank, even the sort of bombardment Calzaghe was doing on Pudwill himself in Newcastle... This guy winds em up now most definitely. Mayweather whips with Cobra-like attacks, discharges and redraws, Hopkins puts his weight behind his solid counter-shots, Calzaghe connects and sets up the following shot at the same time. He is commited to run numbers on them, not to shake em up.
