Hopkins would lose to Mikkel Kessler.

    Few things about these forums:

    1) The stock of a fighter who loses one fight drops immensely, even if his opponent was elite, even when the fight was close.

    2) As a fight draws near and the hype-engine starts roaring, the underdog gets more backing.

These two concepts are on in full force at this point in time, so I thought I'd provide a reminder to what common sense dictates is reality.

Judge Hopkins on what he is, not on what he was. He's still great for his age, I give him all the respect and credit in the world, but he's as close to fifty a he is to thirty-five.

Unfortunately, there are too many fans blinded by the ol' stars and stripes on this board.

I think this is a great post, and accurate. My prediction hasn't changed, Calzaghe will win. I have a lot of respect for some of the posters who have changed sides though, which I think just makes the matchup more interesting.

Kessler is a damned good fighter. But I think that if they were to fight today, at light heavyweight, the old man might be crafty enough to pull out a close decision. Even if BHop loses a convincing decision to Calzaghe, which is what I expect, I still think that his defense and infighting would give a guy like Kessler absolute hell. MK's punches are so straight, which only works if you can stay on the outside.

I still maintain, if Kessler hadn't of schooled Andrade last year, Andrade would be the margarito of the super-middleweight division right now with fans saying people are avoiding him.

kessler and Hopkins would be a great fight.

I agree about Andrade, and I think he would beat Edison Miranda and Jermain Taylor.

Kessler is not robotic in the Andrade, Mundine, Calzaghe or Siaca fights.

If you have only seen the Beyer fight then you have a case.

Regarding the Andrade fight - how the **** can you say hes robotic????

Ill **** off when I want to.

It's amazing how people reach their logic here. I'm only posting here just so I can be able to say "see" after we see the result tomorrow.

Based on the author's reason even what he is now is more than a guy who doesn't throw a lot of punches. You guys I swear are so drunk off of punching power and volume. If thats all it took to be successful in boxing then why havent' guys through the years emulated that style??

Kessler couldn't be Hop's sparring partner and you want to know why?? He has bad footwork and is very easy to hit. Also, while Hopkins has lost a step he hasn't lost his defensive prowess. Which will be a key factor in his victory tomorrow..

Will you also post here if Hopkins loses? I will, if Calzaghe does. I'll champion you as a visionary with amazing foresight.

Hopkins had trouble with Taylor who is, in every department, a lesser version of Kessler.

B-hops style is good against southpaws but awfull against standup 1-2 fighters.

B-hop has a better chance against Calzaghe than against Kessler.

Look mate, none of this **** matters, they won't get it until Cal-Hopkins is done and Hopkins has been brutally dominated with ease.

Know what I mean? There is no way you go from struggling with Taylor to beating Kessler, who's a top level version of a style that gives you immense trouble to start.
