Thanks for the welcome Ashley . You must have pretty fast hands yourself with those 1800+ posts. Good to see so many fans with their fingers on the boxing pulse.
Maybe I need 2 see Bob and Hoppa again....I thought Hoppa won the fight with the clean shots and power shots as well....yes he did use some rough house but he beat him over 6 rounds I thought.....dont see much changing fight 2 I think Hoppa KO's Wilson......Wilson has lost 5 out of 5 against Bob....4 out o 4 against Meehan and 3 out of 3 against Briggs...he did beat Alex to his credit....just think Hpooa will clean him up.
Good 3 see new guys come in.....some guys around here with 8,000 posts and some on the main forum with 30,000
I need to watch it again myself, but from memory I thought Hoppa tied Bob up far to much and wrestled from the inside. Bob didn't look in good form either. He looked far better against Cameron, and Cameron would make Hoppa look daft IMO. I'm not so sure myself about Colin, but again, if Hoppa isn't allowed to tie him up and wrestle, I think Colin might have the experience to UD him. Hoppa is very very amateurish even compared to these 2 blokes. I think he's just rough housed his way through this so far. He will be exposed in time IMO. But then what would I know, I always lose money betting....
Like I mentioned in an earlier post there are plenty of choices in the states compared to here, if Hoppas management choose well the general public here will start to think he actually has made it. If he rematched Bob the outcome would only be worse because Bob was underdone, so why do it, and his other options here are a hard ask. Hence he is actually making a smart move and at the same time giving himself every chance at being successfull in this sport.
Dont think he will fight Bob again old news In fact dont think he will fight for Aus Heavyweight title again either bigger fish to fry
Ashley for the record Col Wilson beat Briggs by KO the 1st two times they fought. And if Col would simply train he'd punch **** out of Hoppa. I remember years ago when Jimmy Thunder came back to Oz after his US stint, no one wanted to fight him but Col did & won 9 out of 10 rds that night. Col's hardest opponent had alsways been himself & his dedication to train.
I think you will find the same Wilson that turned up against Thunder will turn up against Haumona:good
i'm surprised about the negativity towards hoppa. he beat bob fair and square and he still don't get credit. nobody gave him a chance but he showed real balls to fight bob and pummel him. now nobody gives him a chance against wilson, leapai, briggs etc. whether u like him or not, hoppa has a chance against all of these guys.
Cedrichw You mentioned Hoppa has bigger fish to fry. I say Hoppa is gunna get fried by bigger fish. What's the feeling on Nathan Briggs. I've seen him fight a few times and he never looked fit & nowhere near enough agression at times looking like he was just going through the motions. Can training under his brother Paul give him a new lease of life amongst the heavies ?
Dudes - I saw him get KTFO by a kickboxer here in Canberra. Hoppa is the worst Aussie champion like, ever. I have a few HW friends that I would back to take him with a couple of months training to get their cardio up to scratch.
hoppa is certainly not up to the better class of fighters and he will get beat more than once before he is retired. he is lacking in the skill department too. but he is willing to be taught what is neccessary without getting a big head. he will need plenty of fights with guys like leapai, cronje, de mori etc. to find out if he can keep improving enough to compete against the top heavies.
