I agree that Hoppa does take the tough fights, and it's good to see. In all the years Haumono was boxing he never took the kind of risks Hoppa is, and Haumono is by far the more talented boxer.
Why don't you **** off? Hoppa doesn't deserve to be in the ring - he isn't a boxer and whenever he fights a boxer he is shown up as the amateur thug that he is.
****, now you're gonna go the other way & expect that you're only allowed to fight unless you're top 10 p4p. the dude beat bob twice you ****ing twat.
Awesome.........I get another chance to see hoppa get KTFO. Will Dino reappear or will he continue to hide under Hoppa on the canvas.
From what I've seen of him I agree, he has scant regard for head movement or foot defences instead relying on parrying and wild haymakers to win. Saying that he can dig but thats pretty much it.
if you were fair you'd also comment that hoppas jab is pretty good when he uses it. his problem is that once he thinks he has hurt his opponent i little with a good shot, he stops using his jab and virtually uses no defence either. and he paid the price against wilson.
And was knocked the **** out by a part time boxer in Ben Edwards. Don't see him going back to see Ben anytime soon.
cant believe people are having a go at hop for fighting all and sundry??? ****en hell if he fights a patsy people whinge, then if he fights someone better then people whinge about that too wtf? I wish all fighters had the guts to take the hard fights. Hoppa may not be pugilism plus but he has a crack and good on him.
I wouldn't say he has no skill whatsoever as respect has to be given to any fighter, however hopoate and wilson looked like two lumbering, slow old men and not the dedicated professional athletes they should be. Saying that, their lack of gas in the tank made for a highly entertaining fight. From an outside perspective on Australia (Bar the obvious exception), there seems to be a stream of rugby league players trying their hand at boxing in Australia with little success which can be compared to nfl rejects trying mma in the USA. Thats not the way to keep the sport growing at the highest level and it comes at the expense of better fighters getting tv etc.
some people just like whinging all the time i suppose. maybe they want to watch mirovic vs wilson no.9 instead, lol. and as far as getting beat by edwards, none of the top aussie boxers would dare get in the ring with him. and i think you'll also find that hoppa went into the ring without giving edwards any respect as a credible opponent. he's not the first guy to find that out the hard way and he won't be the last.
there r not that many of them really, it just seems like it because they r getting publicity. the other boxers r well within their rights to take more risks but many of them just simply don't. i mean hoppa had the balls to fly to the usa and fight 1 of only 2 guys to have ko'd lennox lewis ffs. and he did it with no amateur experience and only 10 fights under his belt. i think it is a little unfair to say 'with little success'. hoppa had no boxing skills prior, and won the aussie title. haumono has done pretty darn good, mundine has succeeded, bowie tupou was going going ok until his 1st upset loss, garth wood has done a great job to get where he has, and most of them have only had between 10 and 20 fights. i'd say that each of these guys have all over-achieved already. but yes there r some who have been very dissapointing. but it was probably to be expected. also there r virtually a handful of professional boxers in the whole country, so i think aussie boxing should be happy to get them from anywhere tbh.
I agree Buster - I have heard and read comments that it is not worth fighting a part time boxer but if Ben cannot get them in the ring then what else to do?
the reason being is that ben edwards is a big banging bugger who will try and rip their heads off. he may be a part time boxer but he has fists of iron. you don't need a record of 30 fights for 30 wins to be feared.
