Four months after being first mooted, Jeff Horn’s US boxing debut has been locked in.

Official confirmation arrived on Friday for Horn’s second WBO welterweight title defence against Terence Crawford on April 14 in Las Vegas.

“I’m really happy it’s done,” Horn’s promoter, Duco Events boss Dean Lonergan said.

“We’ve got execution copies of the contract right now in front of Glenn Rushton and Jeff to sign.

“This is the most significant fight, I think, in the history of Australian boxing.

“When was the last time an Australian boxer came up against an all-time legend in Manny Pacquiao and, less than a year later, fight the pound-for-pound king?,” Mr Lonergan said.

Mr Lonergan said the long delay was simply because Bob Arum’s US promotions company Top Rank were busy and only managed to send the first draft of the contract two weeks ago.

Horn’s camp will welcome the certainty, as well as two major clauses around judges and drug testing.

It ensures the three-judge panel at the 12,000-seat Mandalay Bay Events Centre will include one Australian, one European and one Nevada local – as Horn’s trainer Rushton had insisted on.

Both fighters have agreed to two mandatory blood and urine tests before and after the fight.

“We just wanted to make sure we’re on a level playing field here,” Mr Lonergan said.

“The great thing about Terence Crawford was his attitude was he doesn’t care how many times he gets tested.

Good to see Dud doesn't care how many times he gets drugs tested.

    Unlike a few others.

Im hoping it is very competitive. Horn is a big Welterweight and Crawford up to this point isnt a Welterweight at all. Nothing really exciting about watching a mismatch. But i just cant see.

Hope your right and they will probably downplay Horns win afterwards and say that Crawford wasn't really that good lol just like after Horn beat Pacquio they said Manny was totally shot despite still being a top p4p fighter and him beating quality opposisition in the lead up to there fight

Some people have dementia. They've forgotten Horn comes in fight night around Super Middleweight, he's a very big and physical Welterweight, rough as guts with butts, elbows, mauling, has a great engine and is a constant pressure fighter with an awkward herky-jerky style. Crawfords not going to have a second to breathe cause Horn will be on his ass all night like a fat kid on a cupcake. Whereas Crawford is a natural lightweight, coming from the weakest division in boxing, not a huge puncher, and has a resume which is very very thin of quality pressure fighters. Horn isn't going to try to box Crawford like most of his previous opponents, he's going to Vegas to try and monster him. Not running down Crawford, he's an excellent fighter, but he is yet to fight anyone like or as big as Horn. This is closer to a 50/50 fight for me.

Horndog is arriving in Las Vegas 10 days before the fight & isn't doing any sparring there.

    That's a mistake.

Should get there 14 days before the fight & do some sparring in the first week.

Really good mix of styles and Horns a big welter it should be very entertaining and a good rough test for Crawdaddy who I suppose is a more imposing JR Welter when compared to the full fledged WW that campaigns at the weight today.
